Lucy1010 - don't make me come (errr where do you live?) there and drag your single ar*e out to a pub and physically shove you through the door to the bar :rotfl:

You are the queen of ifs/buts/maybes and 101 reasons not to step out and do things sometimes ;) Now I'm not suggesting you start hanging around all the bars in your town each and every night (for one that wouldn't be good for your debt busting :rotfl:) but stop worrying so much about what may/may not happen.

Yes, someone might make an advance who you aren't particually interested in, but just be polite and say so - alternatively, you might find that they are really good company and you have a new friend. On the flip side, some drop dead gorgeous guy might sidle across to the bar...and there goes single life ;)

As for what people think a) if you don't know them, what does it matter what they think and who are they to judge? b) they are most likely not in the slightest bit interested about why you're there and couldn't pick you out of a police lineup if their lives depended on it.

If you want to go out for a sunny walk, go, enjoy the sun and be happy. Perhaps take a camera, or a book, or a picnic and enjoy the world around you. Even if you're not in direct conversation with someone, you're still part of what you're seeing :) (blimy! that's a bit deep for a Tues night...off for a cuppa now :p)

Kerri I can do all of those things by myself, everything other than walk into a bar, get a drink and sit my sorry a.s.s on a chair and pretend to enjoy myself when I would rather be anywhere but there.... seriously I can pick up a bloke in Tesco if I really wanted to... LOL ! Thanks girls, you are such an inspiration and I salute all of you DIYers! xx

Well in that case, if I'm ever in your area, we can go for a drink together (so long as it doesn't interfere with a NSD :rotfl:)

Oh and I didn't manage to stick to my budget of £200 this month...

I have overspent by £30 so next month I plan to be more generous to myself and allow £300 for groceries and treats. This won't include anything else because that is already budgeted for.

I cant wait to come back here one day and say hey I am debt free!

    xx

If you overspent by £30 then why not increase your budget to £230 and not £300? Only being Devil's Advocate but that's £70 that could go towards your debts?

Sorry, don't mean to pour cold water on your plans!?!

this is a fantastic thread and I am currently trawling through it, but thanks for starting it. :)

I am like you I wouldn;t like sitting somehwere on my own so tend not to go out (but then I guess its saving pennies) I am also interested as I have got a few pages in and had noticed that you were a smoker and now your not :rotfl: can I ask how have you done it? I f I stop smoking I would actually have money left at the end of the month.

Sounds like you are doing really well and I may have to stalk you now as you are inspiring me :T

Oh I will tell you why... April is an expensive month; a close relative's wedding, a much needed night out with friends & Mothers Day is the reason for an extended budget.

I have tried to cut back on expenses by cancelling the meeting with friends but after careful thought and advice here I have decided against it.

    Hi Mandnamoo

When I first started this thread someone suggested that I stop smoking and to go visit the giving up smoking thread. It was the LAST thing on my mind! Me?... giving up smoking?! No way, I loved to smoke, smoking is all I had... I wanted to smoke, I didnt want to stop...

31 days since I stopped and I sit here as a non smoker, it's not easy, I won't pretend... BUT I am here as a non smoker and I have saved nearly £200 in one month from my 20 a day habit. I wish I could tell you how easy it is but it is NOT, it is b.l.o.o.d.y hard but just think of what you are spending your money on.... you are wasting your hard earned cash to blacken your lungs, to shorten your life and worse still to reduce the quality of your life... come to the giving up smoking thread in the debt free diaries. I will always be thankful to an OP called determinednewms (I call her DMS) for it was she suggested I visit that topic and I am glad I did!

Before discovering MSE I had never wanted to stop smoking and I had never gotten through a day without smoking. That's 20 years of smoking and now I don't smoke! If I can stop, anyone can stop xx
