    Hi,

my worst sub was when I used to order from Tesco's, ordered sellotape but got a box of celebrations, you know the chocolates!! Not sure how I was supposed to use that for wrapping presents.

More recently I ordered some steak from Ocado and got meatloaf.

    Both went back!;)

I ordered a £1.99 pack of smoked mackerel and got £65.00 worth of beef in different cuts.

The driver told me of the error as soon as I opened the front door. I rejected the substitute and phoned Tesco immediately. The money had been taken from my account but would not be refunded for at least 3 days (5 days in practice) It took me over my overdraft limit and I got charged in excess of £60 by Halifax bank in total.
If they had refunded the money immediately no charges would have been incurred and there would be no stain on my credit record.

Tesco’s did agree to pay the overdraft fees providing I sent in copies of my bank statements and charge letters I had received. Which I did. The person in the scanning room couldn't be bothered to scan them so the letters were ignored. Every two weeks for 4 months I phoned them asking for my money, each time I was promised it would be dealt with but it never was.

Six months after the event I eventually received my initial overdraft costs back. They promised me a £20 customer card for all my trouble and an email saying that I would be entitled to free delivery. Several phone calls later the £20 compensation card did turn up.

I never got the email offering me free delivery.

How awful that they could do this to you.

I'm now with Ocado and I find that they do not take the money until after the delivery is left so anything returned is removed from the bill by the driver.

my funniest had to be 1 grape that I had delivered. I assumed that it was an error and had just fell into my bag somehow, but when I went through the Invoice they had subbed a carton of grape Juice with this 1 grape!

I couldn't believe that someone actually picked 1 grape off a bunch, put it in a bag weighed it and charged me 1p for it!

perhaps they thought I was on some extreme diet.

Over the years we have had some stupid substitutions; off the top of my head a bag of Quorn mince was substituted with a small tin of Heinz 'Curry style' beans?! A Venus razor with a 500g bag of raisins (!!!) and a pirate toothbrush (which had a substitute note saying if unavailable to choose something else a little boy would like) with a bright pink mermaid one... My 4 year old son was less than impressed!

Despite the fact we have shopped for groceries online for about 5 years and we are all obviously vegetarian we still get some meat-free/Quorn etc items substituted with meat products... Oh and one Christmas they substituted a bag of potatoes for a bag of frozen southern style wedges and a tub of double cream with a can of squirty cream...

We also once got left with 20, yes 20, bags of prawn crackers! We called Tesco about it who said it wasn't worth them coming "all the way" back to get them so to keep them. When we said we were veggie they told us to bin them then!! My Dad ended up giving them all out down the pub haha!

We got sent a bag containing muscles and bacon instead of cheese and orange juice. That wouldn't have been too bad, apart from that we're vegetarian!

I once ordered a double duvet from Asda and they sent me a single duvet instead!

The best of this is that they sold about five different duvet ranges, and instead of sending me a different double, they sent the single from the range I had originally ordered.

I haven't ordered shopping online since a supermarket delivered my shopping to the wrong address, took the money then called me a liar when I tried to get my money back. They admitted their mistake in the end. Didn't even get an apology let alone the offer of free delivery of my next order.

Twix for tampons - you can't top that!

I worked for Tesco Home shopping in the call centre.

Some subs I had phoned through to me...

    1. One Brussels sprout instead of a bag of them, in someone's large Xmas shop!! I couldn't stop laughing whilst talking to the customer. This was a common occurrence regarding onions, tomatoes and other loose fruit/veg.
    2. A packet of Chinese noodles instead of a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream
    3. Apples instead of onions
    4. A DVD rated 18 instead of a child's U rated DVD!
