I know some people hate cup measures, so I've converted the measurements to imperial
Grease a baking dish - about 9'' by 13''
sift together
6oz plain flour
6 oz sugar
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp cocoa powder
add
4 fl oz milk
1¼ oz butter, melted (2 tbsp)
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
mix until just smooth, then spoon into the baking dish.
Mix together
4 tbsp cocoa powder
7 oz soft brown sugar (light or dark)
Sprinkle over the batter in dish.
Pour over all 12 fl ozjust- boiled water (10 fl oz/half a pint would probably work, but don't go lower) - DO NOT STIR
bake for 40 mins at 180c
Serve warm with whipped cream0 -
Isn't that a Nigella Lawson recipe?0
-
Is it ? I know she's done one on the telly. My recipe is from an American book called Cooking from Quilt Country by Marcia Adams. It was in cups. I've just measured out all the cups into my scales and those are the weights I've come up with.
There are versions of this recipe all over the place.0 -
Thanks for taking the time to do this Thrift xxx I'm off to try this tonight, I don't know if I can wait that long though!!1 John 4: 7 & 80

Thanks Thriftlady. If I were to halve the ingredients how long should I bake for please?0
-
I think I'd give it 25 mins if I halved the ingredients. Give it a bit longer if it's not cooked to your liking0

Hi guys
I've added the "fudge in ounces" thread onto the end of the original "oh my god" thread to keep this all in one place.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there.
