Bitsy - i know exactly how you are feeling - it took for us to have to give up our first house and move in with my mum to make OH realise how great frugal living is!!
I threw my soup away...it was terrible, better than cement though!
Going to make my lasagne in a minute, then i want to start filling my new fridge - how long do they take to get cold enough?Annual Grocery Budget £364.00/£1500
Debt payments 2012 £433.270 -
hugs bitsy...it must be hard when just one of you sticks to the moneysaving thing:o
luckily DH is the same as me with his money since we met....he had a lot of business debt and is clueless with money and lets me sort it all. He is not a big spender either and we always pull together to get out of financial holes:p
We are just back from staying at farm cottage in Selby having a great time with the little lambs etc:D
DH picks up new van/car tomorrow and hire car goes back.
Just the credit card nightmare to pay now while we wait for ins cheque to come:o0 -
Afternoon Everyone.
Molly41 - I'm the same as you haven't posted for a while either, tho I have to say your second post made me rofl. Your timing could not have been better as I have just had a rant at DS for exactly the same reason. Showed him your post & he's upstairs hoovering (is there a fainting smiley?) so you've motivated my DS, is there anything I can do for yours?
BB Grr for you & ((hugs)).
Had my two week trial on tramadol_pale_ won't be doing that again. Have now got patches which I can boost with the tylex if needs be so we shall see how I go. At the moment I seem to be awake all night then sleeping all morning:eek:which really mucks the day up.
Today we are meant to be having roast chicken, took it out of freezer & put it in fridge yesterday afternoon & it's still frozen:eek: So late dinner here then:rotfl:Half term here as well so need to fill the tins for DS hollow legs other than that not much OS going on. Ideally would love to be in the garden but it's wet & cold:( have started some seeds off indoors tho using the top of the aquarium as heating for my propagator & it's working really well.
Hugs hi5's & spoons all round x

It's only a bargain if you were going to buy it anyway!0 -
When it comes to large purchases H is good, looks around for the best deal etc but it's the small amounts he's carp over. For example yesterday as we had to postpone trip to cinema (due to his scooter breaking down etc) he wanted to pop out and get some sweets for the kids to cheer them up. OK that's fine but he comes back with 3 DVD's aswell. H goes "but it was only £3", yes well one DVD might be but you bought 3!!!!! That's actually £9. I swear to god he doesn't register spending anything under £10 as being a significant amount. On it's own it might not be but when you add up that sort of spending it is. Like him buying lunch. He's never organised enough to do it the night before for whatever reason and last month he spent money on lunch nearly every other day at least. Some amounts were £3, some were nearer £8 as he was buying himself boxes of cereal for home too. In total he spent £90 in one month.
I just can't get him to see how the smaller amount add up without it sounding like I am nagging
Edited to add: he's come back and said sorry for snapping at me but when I mention about him taking control of the finances he's got arsey thinking I am spoiling for an argument again. Why does he have this little filter that twists his view on what I am saying and how I am saying it. I swear to god it's set to "Bitsy nagging, Bitsy shouting...." rather than trying to have a grown up conversation. Am off round to my mums with the kids later so will probably do us both good to cool off.
Loulou - you sure you got the energy to throttle anyone
Hope you're better real soon, you've definately been through the mill a bit lately.
NPM - glad you had a nice time, video and pics on FB are lovely

Hya Bitsy, hugs,
Can you not point out to him how many meals you provide for £50?
My DH can be very (miserly) frugal at times and then splashes out on things he doesn't even use!!
You are doing the most important job in the world looking after your children. Does he not realise that minding children is really hard work?

Can I come back into the room yet? Have mended my ways - promise!
Made lists of contents of freezer and cupboards and meal planned for next two weeks. Making my own coleslaw tomorrow for lunch - will be yummy as I can add apple and walnuts as well! Thank you for the talking too - no really, as I needed that! Back to the real world. Been sorting through some things and have found stuff to sell, as well as things to make into Christmas presents. I know its a long way off - but I like to do it in small installments rather than a huge cost. Is difficult for those family members who don't DO home made - yuk!!
Off to paint the fireplace. xMe, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.0
