Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 20th Feb. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the
Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all
It's a bit dryer here today, so I may put some washing out.
I've woken up with my jaw line covered in itchy bumps, it's supposed to be a sign of stress, I've only been up an hour, not long enough to get stressed, lol.
I've finally caved in & started knitting some little baby slippers, I was putting off starting then til I'd finished the last baby blanket & I have now finshed it. I'll post pics later in the week of both.
Roast pork for dinner today, I'll just have the 'go withs' as I don't eat pork & hubby loves it. I shall make some chocolate brownies for hubby to take to work for his cleaning team today. Hubby is having sausage egg bacon & mushroom for breakfast, I shall have egg, mushroom & tomatoes.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning Hester and all who follow. Have confession to make (well it is Sunday, so be gentle!) :o

Have been reading and commenting on the OS ways I have read and enjoyed on this board. But haven't really been putting it into practice. :o Counted up last week alone and we had 4 meals out - takeaway or restaurant. One of them was just OH and me for Valentines, but even so. This was just in one week   :(

And it was just because OH and I were being lazy. Now we have no excuse as we're both at home - due to OH using up his annual leave. Last night I got some beef out of the freezer, which I will do today with carrots, potatoes, yorkshire puds (HM) and some green veg from the freezer. I usually do a pudding on Sundays so today we'll have bread and butter pudding. YUM. Beef is small, so lots of veggies needed!

SHOUT at me daily if I am not being good - please. I need to walk the walk - :)

    Hugs to all
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.
  • Morning Hester, ESMF73 & everyone else

Have woken with a sore back - think the mattress must need turning. Hopefully it wears off soon as have lots to do. Have everyone coming over to our local indian buffet for my sisters birthday today :j so no cooking today.

This morning need to sort out her present and a few photo's - make sure the camera is charged. Hoovering needs to be done & the kitchen floor needs a wash.

Luckily no school next week so the ironing can be ignored........for today anyway.

    morning my lovelies :D

Dry-ish here but a little bit dull so washing will have to hang indoors, no wind so not likely to dry on the line.

H wants to take the kids to cinema today (not very MSE but it's the only thing we'll be doing over the half term so I suppose it can be a treat for them). We are splitting up to take DS to see Yogi Bear and DD to see Tangled :D
Tea tonight will be the usual chicken and veg, how exciting :rotfl:

House is a tip after the declutter yesterday but I already have some people coming for some of the freecycle stuff later on this evening :D

Not much other OS going on, thank goodness I got most of the housework done during the week otherwise half of what I did yesterday wouldn't have been possible :)

Hugs, spoons and high fives all round. Have a good day OS or not.

    Good Morning.

I have been reading but have been feeling down in the dumps so did not want to dampen the mood. Mind you the weather has done a good job at that over the past few days. Im aware that my health has not recovered since my bout in hospital before xmas and it's really getting me down.

Anyway - OS. Huge shop delivered from Mr T. Kids half-term and they eat me out so hopefully I wont have to go and get anything else. Chicken dinner today as DS1 is 20. All out of the freezer as it was emergency christmas dinner. Washing Machine is whirring but Im laying down the law re the washing as its getting silly!

Hester - hope your bumps go down xx
    Hugs xx
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

    Morning All

The snow has gone, it is very damp though so washing will have to dry indoors. Had a lovely evening playing scrabble and frustration with the boys and DH, popcorn and chocolate for a saturday night treat. Stayed up late watching a scary movie, I dont usually watch these and probably wont be again, it took me a while to get to sleep. We are off on a day trip to London tomorrow so need to get some food today. We will have a packed lunch then eat out for tea to keep costs down.
Looking forward to a nice quiet Sunday, just one football match today.

Have a great day whatever your plans.

Molly41 hope you feel better soon, know what you mean about the washing with 3 boys here and a DD who lands home from Uni every so often my WM is on constantly, although its the drying that is the problem in this weather.

    Morning

Busy day ahead. Got a pile was washing still to do. Taking kids swimming, need some shopping, get the kids school stuff ready for tomorrow and lastly off to see my wonderfull granny. She is 94 and still lives on her own.

She grew up in a farm then moved to the city when she was a teenager and was a dress maker. She got married to a baker and they ran a bakers shop. Her husband died when my mum was 12 and she ran a house, 2 kids and a shop all on her own until she retired 32 years ago. It is only in the lat 18months that she has slowed down and she really can't do much now. She passed on to me a fantastic book called the housewifes ABC. This book must be about 100 years old but is full of lots of OS.

I learnt all my baking skills from her just sadly never picked up her sewing skills but I am looking at doind a night course in sewing soon.

Well I've waffled enough. Off to get some breakfast.

    Have a good sunday.
