They can of course close your account but its unlikely they will close it on the strength of you asking for your statements but they may do it at a later stage in your reclaim so best to take the time now to set up another account while you await your statements.0

In my experience (with Lloyds), there isn't much you could do in such a short space of time. You could try contacting your branch, although I imagine that if my experience is anything to go by, they'll just say that they're entitled to charge it.0 -
I am in the process of reclaiming bank charges from Nationwide. I have a parachute account, but how do I go about transferring all my direct debits to the new account? I have moved several times over the last 3 years and haven't changed my address with half of them and am haphazard with paperwork and can't find details or contact numbers!I love this board, have "virtually" met so many lovely people, people I am honoured to count as friends.

Hi everyone, hope you can provide some advice. Eventually after no response to the letters I sent I applied to the court using Money claim on line. I received a response from the court which said that Nationwide had acknowledged service and intended to file a defence. Approximately 10 days later I received a payment into my bank for the charges. However this amount did not include the interest I claimed on my court application nor did it include the court issuing fee. To date I have not received any further letters from the Nationwide nor have they filed a defence in court yet.
My question is this do I just do nothing until the 28 days expire for them to file a defence. Presumably if they don't file a defence I am entitled to claim the remaining money for the interest and the court fees? What is other people's experience or views on what I should do next?
Many thanks in advance for the advice.0 -

Its generally up to the new bank to shift everything for you if you notify them but worth keeping an eye on what they do.0 -

cookemeister , a simple phone call explaining that you will move the account elsewhere normally works the first time and maybe even the second , if you have a history of this with them the only way to go is move banks or take them to court through moneyclaimonline , 99.9 % guaranteed to pay up and any costs you incurr .0

Lots of banks are entering a defence, but still paying the claim in full before it gets in front of a judge (it is like a scare tactic for many people). The next thing you will receive is an allocation questionnaire from the court. See post #8 in THIS THREAD for guidance with this. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
