  • Afternoon everyone
Cold and wet here as well - will this winter ever end

We popped down to Wilkinsons and they have a good sale at the moment, picked up stuff for DD - sheets, a duvet set, towels and a wicker unit for £40.
Plus a couple of single duvet sets for £2.25 each and a new raised toilet seat reduced from £25 to £12.50 Even though money is tight I thought I would get the cotton stuff because it is set to double in price this year. DD is well pleased and it is nice to help her out while we can.

Apart from that not much to do today so I have Dam Busters on and will do some knitting for a bit dinner tonight is chicken and bacon hotpot which is in the slow cooker now and smells lovely.
Have a good evening all x

  • Evening Everyone! It's been a busy day today. I am looking after a friends DS, and then my Best Friend came over (I am sure he wanted to check up on me after my test results) with his DS, so we went for a walk (VERY MUDDY WALK) and fed bread to the 'ducks' only there were no ducks... but the seagulls came, which attracted the swans... it was really fun. Went to the park afterwards.

Well my friend is now convinced that even though I am losing weight on low GI/GL that I am not starving myself to death and i'm eating quite a bit!!! I also convinced him that although I have my test results I am not 'down and out' for the count...!

Although I was supposed to have porridge for breakfast, I made it.... but YUK YUK YUK! So ended up with oatcrackers, HM hummus and Cheese... an interesting breakfast... but very enjoyable!

Anyway, I have wholewheat dough rising for pizza... so I have to go put dinner on...

I hope everyone is well x

    Jx

Ps. Julie67 did you book come yet? My GL book turned up yesterday, I was very pleased with it.

Evening all!! I feel back to normal now! Had a bubble bath and OH made curry for dinner.

Have some soup mix soaking ready to make soup tomorrow, and mince defrosting for lasagne.

OH has gone out so i'm going to catch up on the biggest loser and watch a chick flick :)

    Evening all

Busy few days and not had chance to post. Did some MS work with the kids in tow this morning as DH was working all day and again this evening. Got some shopping and then came home as I am a tad rough today.....I was celebrating last night as since I started my [STRIKE]diet[/STRIKE] 'healthier eating with a view to losing weight' malarky on the 13th January I have now lost 21 llbs :D unfortunately it seems to have all come off my chest....DH not happy! lol. I've very pleased with it but it really is only a drop in the ocean as I have a good bit to lose. I'm not setting any targets I just want the convenience of being able to go in a 'normal' shop and buy clothes of pretty underwear without having to rely on Evans and the like.

Going to have a day in the kitchen cooking and baking tomorrow. Its my last week in my current job and I am going to make the guy I sit next to a batch of twinks before I leave!

Will try and catch up with the thread - enjoy your evening x

  • I have no firm plans today but have lots that need to be done over next 2 days:

    [STRIKE]- food shop
    - general tidy every room[/STRIKE]
    - massive tidy and sort out spare room for my friend to stay in (arriving Sun)
    [STRIKE]- hoover
    - clean surfaces in kitchen and bathroom
    - DW and WM need to go on at some point[/STRIKE]
    [STRIKE]- filing paperwork away
    - finish unpacking bag from work trip
    - take recycling to tip
    - get oil for car
    - batch cook some soups for work lunches[/STRIKE]
    - book flights to NZ
    - do uni work!

Well I've done quite well so far today :) Just got laundry to put away and then the spare room to sort tomorrow. Plus my uni work.

I did my big monthly food shop. I wanted to spend £40 as I had a £6 off £40 spend Tesco voucher. But my storecupboard was already quite well stocked so I struggled a bit! I stocked up on pasta and tinned toms (Napolina ones are on offer - 4 pack £2) plus the cheese which was BOGOF. I also got my car oil so in effect that was free :)

It turned out to be a beautiful sunny day and warm enough not to wear a coat when nipping out to shops :D, hopefully Spring is on the way

I'm going to have a bit of a feeling sorry for myself evening as I'm in one of those moods. Going to make veggie fajitas for tea later, cwtch in and watch a girly dvd.

    Have a good evening all

  • Hi chums ever had one of those days I'm far too soft I think. I have some ,err shall we say a bit useless neighbours.I was all set to do my knitting with my feet up as I am off out galivanting tonight and this afternoon one of the 'tribe' knocked on the door to say their electric had suddenly turned off.Well as they have no landline (only mobiles ) I let them use my phone to make a couple of calls .Two hours later:mad: they were still trying to get their electric back on it appears that Brit Gas had closed their 'key account' and they had been transferred to another company which they never knew anything about. So around another four calls later the council had told them nothing could be done until Monday .Now by this time I had thought I had been as sympathetic as I could be and there's not much more I could do.I phoned one of my son-in-laws who works for a housing association and he said the same if the local council have no emergency staff on a Saturday afternoon they will have to wait until Monday. So finally getting my phone back the neighbour went of cursing all councils .An hour later one of the daughters knocked on the door to borrow my hoover (don't ask ,my Dds moan about their borrowing as well) 'have you got the electric back on then?' I asked somewhat suprised
"Oh yes it was Mum's fault she hadn't put enough money on the 'key' and it had run down to the emergency bit'
Off the lass went with my hoover under her arm leaving me speechless on the doorstep.
result one wasted afternoon and a fairly chunky lump on my phone bill:mad:. There are 5 of them in there and none are in work so I know money must be a bit tight ,but as my DD says they all smoke and they enjoy Sky so why are you lending them your hoover and the odd tenner almost weekly to get them through from one week to the next. They do pay it back but its become quite a habit and I end up worrying when I go on holiday how they will manage without me to help out.
Anyway thats my minor rant out of the way.I am sitting here in my finery waiting for DD to pick me up I am off up to London to a family 18th birthday party.
I hope everyone has a good evening I intend to to make up for my wasted afternoon
Oh by the way my friend sent me a text to say she has sorted out our spring break we are off to Herefordshire for a week in a farm cottage in April.Somewhere near Leominster ,where ever that is.
    See you all tomorrow
    Cheers chums

Bitsy my DH tells me you can see the northern lights here at the moment if you get a clear night. The reasons are too difficult for me to understand, what can I say he listens to radio 4 and knows everything:rotfl::cool:

I think it's due to the massive solar flare that the sun has just launched. Not sure whereabouts you are to see the Lights. I know they could be seen in parts of Northern England but not sure that stretches to West Mids ;)
Bitsy there is a thread in The Arms where the OP (I think its ColinW) posts when you can see the international space station, might be worth looking for and bookmarking for DS ;)

Ooooh will trot off and have a look, also bookmarked Google Moon for him too ;) Found another two astronomy books of mine so he's been quite happy with those :D

Well did a bit of decluttering and I still haven't found the lenses for the telescope. I have though bought down a shed load of stuff which H was not happy about. He wants to do it bit by bit but we haven't got forever to do that and it'll never get done otherwise ;)

So house looks a tip, back of car full for stuff for charity shop, load of stuff to Freecycle and all the bulky stuff and some clothes to photograph and list on ebay.
How the hell am I going to fit all that in during half term week when for 3 of the days I shall have 3 kids in tow........why oh why do I do these things at the wrong time :o
You mean there is no benefit in having a man walk around your apartment in his underwear? I obviously need to get out more :rotfl:

Nah if they're hanging around they just get in the way, making a mess ;)
