Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Saturday 19th Feb. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Still dark here but I've looked out the door & it's raining hard so no playtime in the garden for hubby at the moment, it is meant to brighten up later.
WM & DW are both chugging away, 1st of many loads of washing.
I finished work at 3 yesterday, collected hubby, came home had tea (HM Chow Mein) I made myself a Lemsip as I've had a cough all week & it felt like it was turning into a cold. I sat on the sofa at 7 fell asleep till 9, went to bed & slept through till 5:30 this morning!
Obviously the stress at work is preying on my mind more than I realised. The bursar is out to get me, lol, she keeps complaining about my department costing too much, but as it is out of my control I don't see what I can do. I'm excluded from all discussions about the cost on the grounds of me not being important enough & of course I'm an idiot, what could I contribute? I probably could put forward some suggestions if I knew exactly what the problems are, but again I'm not allowed to know. I've made various suggestions over the years which have all been ignored so don't really see what else I can do. Oh well, a week of not being there will do me the world of good.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning Hester and all who follow.
Wet, dark and miserable here ( hurry up spring)
Children eating breakfast, too early for me. Take our 2 DDs to Tap and Ballet classes at 9-11 then they are all off to the circus with the Sister-in-laws so It's Macdonalds for them for tea on the way back home.
Need to nip to the butchers for meat for the week and Aldi for some fruit and veg, some washing to do and a quick tidy round downstairs.
Have good day everyone.Mum to 3 gorgeous kids
Hoping to have a better year this year.

Good Morning Everyone! drizzling here at the moment.
Hester, you sound so fed up with your job at the moment. I hope you manage to forget it all and relax over half-term.
My DW, WM and TD are all busily whirring away. I have just tidied all the DVDs and videos in the living-room. I cannot understand how we have empty DVD cases - and no matching loose disks! How does that happen??
Need to get down to church early to remove the dust that's escaped from behind the workmen's plastic sheeting - a thin film over everything at present! Oh I will be glad when the whole job is finished - but that probably won't be until after Easter. I may get used to using my duster regularly!
DS is bringing DGD to stay for the half-term week - haven't seen her since early January, so really excited. Lots of nice trips planned for next week, so hope the weather isn't too bad.
Tonight we have this black-tie do to go to...it'll probably be OK when we get there, but not really looking forward to it,if truth be told. Manged to locate my silver sandals finally yesterday (in the plastic box under DS' bed where out of season shoes are stored). Why did I not look in there before???? Also found the "magic knickers" which will be essential I think!
Oh well, it's quite light now, so I should get showered and dressed and walk the doggies. Hope Saturday treats you all well.

Morning all,
Well I was meant to have a lie-in this morning, but woke up at 6.30 as I have done all week . It's also partly to do with the fact that OH called last night from Sri Lanka in a bit of a drunken mess and I can't get hold of him, so that's preying on my mind. And I have a cold - hurrahh. So have been partially awake with a blocked nose and swollen glands since about 3am.
OH's friend came over last night which was lovely, but there was smoething in the undercurrent is the only way I can explain it. He's always very touchy-feely, freely giving hugs and things, but last night he was that little bit closer and almost needing more contact than usual. I don't think it's anything 'dodgy', but he's mentioned coming over during the week as well, which he wouldn't normally do.
Don't get me wrong, I would NEVER do anything with anyone else as it would hurt M too much and I love him too much to do that! I'm just wondering what's going on - perhaps he just needs reassurance at this point in his life too....
The housework is already done, as is the shopping; I only need to wash some clothes before Monday. It's cold and miserable here at the moment - when I looked out about 30 mins ago it was snowing . I have another friend coming over today who wants to go out for a decent walk, but I may try and dissuade her if it continues - I can't walk far when I have a cold and don't fancy getting cold and wet
Breakfast will probably be doughnuts and tea in a couple of hours, and then I'll quickly walk the dogs before my visitor arrives. Dinner tonight is HM pizza, and I'll hopefully get an early night with my book - I truly am living on the edge :rotfl:
Have a good day all,

Morning all - just a quick in and out. Got muffins ready to go in the oven but hadn't turned it on properly  I try to take some to my hairdressers but my appointment is at 8.00a.m. so it'll be pushing it!
Colds are horrible, I've been dosing myself all week so my sympathies to those who have one too.
DW ready to go on once I've had my shower - WM was done yesterday. OH didn't get home last night, he bedded down at Manchester as plane arrived late.
Must get on, hair cut, shopping, little bit of work and then watching some swimming. :j
Hope everyone has a good weekend.0 -
Morning all.

Tappers glad your results were good!

Not much os planned for today.

Snowing here today - it is settling a bit too, hope it doesn't go on too long. Silly little dog is outside in the garden, jumping up and down trying to catch the falling snow in his mouth lol!
Washing and ironing up to date which isnt hard now I am on my own in the house! I never thought that I would miss washing cooking and cleaning up after other people:o The house is just too tidy.
Going shopping for a few fresh bits this morning when DD2's BF comes for me at 8.30. I will be so glad when we (DD and I share a car although she does not live at home, we have it half a week each for shopping trips, work commitments etc) get the car back. I forget if I told you or not but the same weekend OH left, an unmanned Range Rover rolled down the hill on our street and crashed into our poor little mini, doing loads of damage to the back, so we have been without a car ever since. Hopefully we might get it back later today. I have felt very cut off without it
Am supposed to be going out tonight with DD's and friends which should be nice. Hope the weather improves before then though.
Hope you all have a good saturday.

Good morning everyone,
Wayhay it is half term.
Hester - it surely sounds like you neeeed the break!
V8 - take a lot of care. Sympathy and kindness can be taken the wrong way. Is OH's friend in a relationship? I have a couple of friend's partners / husbands who are a bit too touchy feely. I try to make sure I am not alone with them and if that does happen I make sure I am busy doing something.
Frey - hugs. I hope you can keep in touch with the girls and keep social contact.
Nic - sounds like you are doing a fantastic job on your house. I could do with you round here. Hope you get your car back as it will give you some independence. x
Grey and wet here. I want sunshine for my washing. I had a lineful out all day yesterday, mostly bathsheets, and it was still damp when I brought it in at 4:00 even though it had been breezy. Was hoping to do double bed's clothes today. However, no house guests are planned atm so it won't matter too much if the bedding waits, but I want it done!
Will have our main meal middayish today. Am expecting DD & family at 9:15 as footy is early. DGS1 will come back wet, cold and muddy and will need a shower. I must clear the plughole before he needs to use it. We will then eat fajitas, DGS3's favourite meal:)
Caught up with ALL the washing up yesterday. It does take its toll feeding 5 at lunch time and 7 for dinner:)
Must get going. Need to vacuum through downstairs before the visitors arrive and get bm on.
Happy Saturday all, hugs to those in need or want them, Silver xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

Good morning! Am normally a bit of a lurker but need to be more sociable!
Hope everyone has a lovely day and enjoys some time for os relaxation. Its looking pretty dull outside so don't think I will be spending much time in the garden. OH is meeting friends today for pub and football so me and LO will probably visit my mum and get a lovely lunch lol. Would also really like to join the library.
Might make some cheese scones later on and then have an early night, wow I'm so rock and roll!. Dinner will be from stores and won't be spending any money as per usual!
Have a great day!0 -
Morning all
Grey here but not wet. Tide is in and when I opened the curtains there were 6 swans gliding across the dock
I have no firm plans today but have lots that need to be done over next 2 days:
- food shop
- general tidy every room
- massive tidy and sort out spare room for my friend to stay in (arriving Sun)
- hoover
- clean surfaces in kitchen and bathroom
- DW and WM need to go on at some point
- filing paperwork away
- finish unpacking bag from work trip
- take recycling to tip
- get oil for car
- batch cook some soups for work lunches
- book flights to NZ
- do uni work!
Phew! that's a big listbut I have 2 days and no other plans so will just do a little bit at a time. I want to rest a bit this weekend too as I want to feel better and enjoy myself when my friend comes to stay.
Have a good day all

Good Morning All
Hester - enjoy your week off.
Very wet here too this morning, not nice at all. Am off out in a bit to take DS for a haircut. Have promised him a McD's breakfast as bribery - dont think I will be tempted though.
Other than that think I will have a housework day, have DSis' birthday meal tomorrow and people will probably come back here after.
Changed my meal plan yesterday so now have Piri=Piri chicken tonight.
Have a great Saturday.x0
