We have turned the heating off!!!!! This was by accident really as it kicked in at 5pm yesterday (when it was hot) so i turned it off and then forgot to turn it back to automatic again. OH and I decided to declare summer has arrived and keep it off (however there isn't any sun yet and it's 'cool' now).
We have also saved £50 by not joining the neighbours in sharing the cost of having the drains cleaned (yes cleaned! - they are not blocked!)
for £200 (yes that's right as well). I don't know the process but can't think it is much more technical than a hose pipe. As we are in the middle of our block I'm not sure how that will work out for the others!!!!! Drain cleaning just isn't on my list of priorities at the mo....... - can you tell I'm still annoyed????
Applied for a Nectar card as it keeps being mentioned on here. I can add my Homebase spend from yesterday to it if it arrives in time. This Homebase spend was a NSD until my lunch hour when I went out for some fresh air and spent £7 on a hanging basket of strawberries and other bits:o
I will also think of some cheapy things to do with my DD's during the hols (another thread coming on here????). So far we have a baking day using my new 'The Great British Book of Baking' book, with recipes from The Great British Bake Off series. (Mothers day gift). The Park, the beach (walking distance), local swimming pool, meet DH in his lunch hour for a picnic then we can go on to the nature reserve.
Finally I am going to prise myself away from this website and get something out of the freezer for tea.......0 -
Today for me:
* took MOT cert down to garage to get days added on.
* did MOT early enough that I could have tried to use remaining days of warantee if appropriate (nothing needed doing)
* got cheap fuel at Mr M
* going to aldi for cheap lunch pizzas to eat outside rather than ordering a take away
* Took DH to 99p shop for some cheap bits for a weekend away he is going on next week - better to lend and lose some cheap tool bits than his good ones.Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
I bought a few odds and sods from the £1 shop... unfortunately no where near enough to make up for the £40  I spent at the farmers market today, though!
Planted out some seeds. Hooray!
Received my first £25 for letting a friend of a friend store stuff in half my garage
Confirmed with my neighbour she can look after my cats while I'm on holiday over Easter. The local pet minder charges £10 a day, but double for bank holidays. With 4 in the period I'm away it would have meant £££££ had my neighbour not been able to look after themBorrowed £150,000 in an offset tracker mortgage in May 2007 - MFD May 2041 (67)

I was going to say not a lot for us today, but i then remembered we got rid of all the waste from cutting down trees by taking it to my parents for a bonfire. So saving cost of skip hire or a person to do the job.
I've managed a survey network survey taking my to £18 - payout is at £20 so hopefully i will see that next week. I've also written a 60p review, so now at £54.12. I am umming and aahing about asking for the cheque or working my socks off some more and aiming for the £75 mark. Not sure which option would work best for us. I'll think on it some more tomorrow.
I need to go shopping tomorrow - DS2 has run out of nappies. He only wears one per night for bed, but as he has been having so many accidents through the day, i don't want to do night time training yet, so i will have to go and buy some. I also have birthday cash burning a hole in my pocket, and i need some new T shirts. I might take a ride to Mr T tomorrow.0 -
Today for me:
-Hung out 2 loads of washing to dry.
-1 hours tutoring earned £25.
-Visited a friend for lunch (so got a free lunch!), bought her a lovely bunch of Flowers £2.99 in Lild would've been more in other supermarkets.
-Instead of going into town drinking like OH this evening I've taken the cheaper option of hiring DVD for £2, resisted buying any snacks to go with it.
-Have found a couple of tops to list on Ebay.
-Got huge bagfuls of grapes, plums and baking pots for £1 each on a market stall ready to close. Bargain!
Not so good:
-We did go into my friend's quaint little town centre with several unique gift type shops, and I did end up buying a gift for my dad's birthday and mother in law's in next few months. However, they were reasonably priced- in fact we saw them in one shop in the town and decided to mull it over then saw them both in a later shop each for £5 less!
-Succumbed to a Groupon offer for a hair colour, cut, blow dry and conditioning treatment for £26. It sounds a very fair price, but I've got in the habit of colouring my own hair at home and DH trims it for me... so this feels like an extravagance.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!Yesterday is today's memories, tomorrow is today's dreams0 -

I’ve not posted for about a week so quick round up
*Put an offer in on a house a LOT lower than I normally would have dared , 13k cheaper – they are thinking about it.
*Done the usual surveys/clicks etc
*Ordered a Mr T stock up shop using a £7.50 code they sent me- didn’t buy my bread flour from there though as 50p at Mr A, was 1.29 at T's. Thank you GG for telling me.:)
* Used Mr A price checker and got 15p back
*Praised my Ds’s for going to local Mr Ms for goodies instead of local corner expensive shop.
* * let * Encouraged DH have £2 for Mcdees instead of usual weekend £3. No one needs 3 burgers! But then he bought 3 bags for £1 sweets in Mr As so it was the same amount spent anyway! I try.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Further to yesterday:
:mad:Received a letter from the tax man saying we no longer (by a few £'s) qualify for tax credits
:)Found an envelope in DD2 school bag saying I had overpaid her (once a week treat)school lunch dinner money - plus it was a £2 coin - straight into the jar!!!
:Twalked to local pub. DH and I had free drink each (with Marstons vouchers from their website) and the kids had free drinks (brought from home).0
