Isn't it ...almost... a pain when you do all the research, are all set to get the cashback AND go through quidco or whatever and your existing provider is still the cheapest?!

Regularly happens to me with my mobile phone contract renewal as I make them put me through to retentions!!

Ummm... oooh... I need to say how I've been moneysaving, don't I?!

Nothing really today, except buying reusable mousetraps!! :rotfl:

  • Well...

    Today I :
    - Used advantage card points to buy DD's milk and tissues.
    - Bought the waitrose 2 dine in for a tenner reather than get a weekend bottle of wine and takwaway. So about £10 saved.
    - Went to MIL and drank her tea.
    - Tried to spend as little as possible and will be doing so until pay day.
    - have decided rather than save this month to pay off the O/D although my heart says save my head says the overdraft is more expensive so pay it off.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

    Today I have:

Layed floorboards in my loft after having extra insulation added. Paid £35 incl a saw and did it all myself. Totally beat ache in every single bt of my body and my knees have gone blue with bruises but it was cheaper than getting someone in to do it like I normally woud have done. Need to sort a bit more stuff out before putting the rest back. Feels good.

Filled the car with stuff for the dump and found a few more items to list on EBay. Not that it makes a fortune but every little helps

Had a NSD as DH went to the supermarket while I was sorting the loft out and I have not been near any shops today. Actually not left the house today.

Yesterday I went to Swindon outlet shopping (my absolute favorite) and only bought a bikini I actually need for my holiday £17.50 for a Thriump one (said £59 on the label would never have paid that.

Did another MS and got yet another present for my sister and her family OK it cost me £7.99 but that was £10 off due to MS.

Well done everyone - sounds as though its a good MFW weekend for all! :T I only post every few days as I don't think I have much to say normally!!

Anyway, In the past few days:

    - Went to see Hall Pass at cinema (absolutely fab film - soooo funny!) thanks to some Mutualpoint vouchers

    - Had a terrible meal last night in a restaurant - was going to pay in Tesco deal vouchers but instead paid by cash and have written a letter of complaint - hoping to get a free meal out of it (didn't think they would be so willing if I used my Tesco vouchers!)

    - Used 3 vouchers and got 3 x 12 Quantum Dishwasher tablets for 24p from Mr S (I kept saying that it wouldn't print...so it gave me another :rotfl:). Also used double points Nectar voucher and paid on Amex card for points.

    - Made OP of £30 counted up from mortgage piggy

    - Looked on Rightmove as putting house on market soon - but everything I like is too expensive :( (why do beams and an open fire come at such a premium?!?! :))

    - Been accepted for MBNA Amex card - heres to 1.5% back on shopping/petrol

    - Joined Onepoll and did 15p survey

    - Uploaded Shopandscan, receipts and petrolpanel

    - Received £100 M&S vouchers from Amex rewards :T Which will pay for shopping for rest of the month until payday - I normally don'tdo my everyday shopping at M&S but I can pretend to be posh for a couple of weeks!:)

    - OCD 56mph in car several times over the past few days

    - Just resisted going out and buying some chocolate!
  • Today I had a NSD as I have been decorating since 8:30!!!! thankfully only two rooms left to go in the house.
Tomorrow should also be a NSD maybe even a profit as some things need to go back to B&Q

    Mortgage free - 01/05/2019, mortgage high £200k 2011
  • Oh, I'm also leaving earlier to get my fuel efficiency up higher - it's a 40 minute drive and in my car, I'm aiming to get 60 mpg which is good going I think. If I do that I can get approx 4 weeks of fuel out of my driving, which a little offset the increased fuel costs.
Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved
September 2016 - Back into clearing a mortgage - Was due to be paid off in 32 years in March 2047 -
April 2018 down to 28.00 months vs 30.04 months at normal payment.
Predicted mortgage clearing 03/2047 - now looking at 02/2045

Aims: 1) To pay off mortgage within 20 years - 2037

I did that myself when i was waiting for my first cheque laura, but it took time to arrive and i didn't want to write until i knew i was being paid. I am about to claim my 3rd with a little more work.

I find i need to get into the routine of doing one per week and then return my rates. I'm sure you'll easily get back into it.
