Bless me MFW's for I have sinned. I'm working from home today but went out and bought a sandwich from the local bakers (and a rum truffle). There was just nothing in the house to eat. Honest, there wasn't. Unless I'd forced down either a tin of Semolina or Pilchards (6 months out of date). And BambyWamby might be able to do Mushy Peas for brekky but come on guys....have some empathy here.
On the up side I spent a pleasurable 15 mins programming my new boiler to come on at reasonable and accurate times. I've set it to come on in the mornings for 90mins as I'm not a morning person (its a cold draughty house that doesn't get much sun) and have left the evenings for now0 -
You havent sinned curlygirl so dont beat yourself up.
I think we all need to remind ourselves that this is the MFW board not DFW and the odd treat is ok !
I on the otherhand probably do need to bring myself into check because tomorrow we collect DH's new car and then we are off for a few days away in a nice posh hotel for my birthday. Shush, dont tell anyone - its a big one !0 -
Too true!
:j:bdaycake:Have a fabulous birthday:bdaycake: :j I've got a big one coming up this year as well........but I'm ignoring mine0 -
Thank you for the cake curlygirl "1971"
Guess you have the same big birthday due !0 -

Hi all
I have been lurking for a while and this site has encouraged me to start my MFW journey back in 2008. I have managed to reduce my mortgage to £21K which is great but my objective was to pay it off by Christmas this year, which I dont think can realistically happen...
Like you all, I have reached a point where I just do not know what else to do to save the pennies!!! At the same time, having recently lost a close friend to cancer and having a few people around me battling the illness, I also want to 'have a life' and be able to treat myself because 'you just never know, I could be run over by a bus tomorrow'... However, in case I dont get run over by a bus, I d like to have my mortgage paid off so I could be in a position to explore new career options...
Anyway, I would like to join you if that's ok as I feel it will help me and I have been reading the thread daily anyway lol!
Today I have:
* charged phone at work
* put my expenses through
* had a packed lunch & a packed breakfast (cant eat first thing in the morning so eat first thing at work...)
* that is pretty much ot...
PS - Happy Birthday Tabitha0 -
Hope you have a fabulous Birthday Tabitha Kitten!

Welcome Catseyes - thanks for posting
Have you had a look at the MFW 2011 thread? I find that hugely motivating also. I was already OP'ing (started in June 08) but only in tiny amounts. It wasn't really until I came across the MSE forum in Nov 09 and the MFW threads that I started to do it more seriously.
I'm an obsessive spreadsheeter and planner so I've always thought 'I can afford to OP £x'...but you know what, due to the power of Grayskull (only joking) and the synergetic effect of these threads (I had a rum truffle at lunch) I've OP'd much more than that. In fact If I were to graph it (I have) I would even go as far as to say the effects are exponential. If I could spell it.
Last year I thought I could afford £2k and I OP'd by £3k. This year I thought I would try for £6k and I'm already 2/3rd of way to achieving that. Okay I have smaller targets......but the point is....more is possible than you would think possible. Infact I don't know what on earth I'm going on about - you've already said you are doing everything you can to save.
Think I might lie down in a dark room with a wet cloth for a while - am getting quite giddy today. Think its having no human contact whilst working from home. Maybe it's a gas leak.........0 -
Afternoon everyone, what a lovely, sunny day
For me today:
- clicks, surveys (got a £5 Amazon voucher from Freesnacks, up to £23 in amazon account now)
- packed lunch for dinner
- out for tea but its to a BYO drinks place so should be cheap night
- Rang RAC and told them i'm not renewing as price gone up from £28 'introductory offer' to £48. Back to AA or the one Katsu recommended last week
- haircut tomorrow with the trainee at junior prices. Not tried junior stylists before but thought it worth a go. Next time i will prob try the local college. I figure they're well supervised and won't make me look like Wurzel Gunnidge !#39 - Save £12k in 20250 -
Hey,
was it someone on here who was collecting cravendale codes? I dont think I'll ever drink enough milk to earn any rewards so if anyone wants my points please PM me! If I'm talking nonsense and I'm on the wrong thread... then please ignore me!0
