eeek on the mushy peas for brekkie!! that is true dedication-but you can blame it on bump! ;)

    Yesterday...
    pack lunches into work
topped up grocery shop so a total of about £20 for the week - may need some meat to top that up at some point!
will cook up all the leftover/use by veggies and stuff in the fridge tonight or tomorrow for soup/bases for sauce/stew etc...only prob may be the freezer as there is NO space at all! doh!

    Not so MF
we went out for dinner -but it was a lovely evening and havent been out for ages! so money well spent- and at £25 for 2 of us with drinks, main and shared desert wont break the bank either!

And its payday tomorrow! hurrah :)

    I love this thread...

    Not much today though...

    * Brought lunch to work, made pack up for DH too
    * Going to resist having subway for lunch even though I have to walk past there to go and get DH's birthday present
    * Shopping from mealplan & list later
    * Fire has been off for the last two nights, going to adjust heating this weekend
    * Looked at switching energy tariff - but waiting for latest bill to come in.
    * No surveys offered - boo...

wow thats a bit more than I thought.

Got to put more petrol in courtesy car tonight, don't want to put too much in, but don't know when I'm going to get my car back - not planning to drive anywhere at the weekend if I can help it.

  • Little things we have done past day or two are:

    - Made some mothers days cards with the kids (saves buying them)
    - Quidco for March is £99 although I should have another £270 to be added anytime now.

    Mortgage free - 01/05/2019, mortgage high £200k 2011
  • Im off to the hairdressers this afternoon as I finish work at 1pm.
In true MSE style Ive plucked up the courage to try somewhere new.
Instead of my usual £35, (already budgeted for) wash, cut & blow at a swanky stylist, this place is offering a wet cut for £12.50.
So £22.50 in the mortgage pig in return for a quick dash vack to the car with wet hair !
Hope it doesnt turn out to be a big mistake as I like the way my usual hairdresser cuts it.

I've gone completely the opposite way. I've always paid as little as possible for a cut and also come away with wet hair - even in winter. But earlier last year after having experienced a number of hairdresser incidents including one that I shall only refer to as 'Poodle Head'.....

    20706b39f180898e

....I just felt totally and disproportionately miserable about my hair all the time - a mass of frizzy curls that on a bad day looks like I live in a hedge

    e1d5ef93c4548db2

and on a good day looks like Brian May on a bad day.

9028e743eac6b670 (Admittedly I'm not wearing makeup here)

Not good. So I bit the bullet and went to someone who had been recommended. It's £43 (less 10% discount if I book 3 appts in advance) which is a HUGE expenditure. I feel dreadfully decadent. I almost feel guilty about it. Clearly it wasn't a cure and some would probably say they can't notice any difference, but you know what - I actually have some good hair days now and feel so much better. So whilst I can afford it....I will.

Good luck with your cut TK! (wasn't trying to put you off - if I could get away with paying £12.50 I flipping would)

    Nothing much else doing today:-
    • NSD (apart from paying plumber for boiler, which is coming out of savings)
    • Had a combi-boiler installed (Means I no longer have to heat a whole tank of water, I don't have to have the heating on in summer to get hot water :D, more accurate timing control and should mean no call-out fees for a few years :T)
    • When the plumbers removed the old hot water tank they found a corroded seam that in a few months would have been a hole and a huge pool o' water through the ceiling - repair bill saved
    • Free Lunch at work
    • Left-overs for dinner
    • Bought some 1st Class stamps pre-price increase
    • Online banking - got paid (my company always make the payment early!) for 1st April so moved the money into savings so it can earn 0.5% for a week :D
    Anti-MFW:-
    • Lost my MPG Mojo this morning - must try harder
    • I'm having a bath tonight courtesy of my new boiler. Soz. But I am

Gave in to subway craving as bread on my sandwich tasted mouldy! Must have been just on the turn cos it looked ok. Checked with DH and his were ok - typical!

Afternoon all...nearly the weekend whoop whoop! :j

Another lovely day today here in East Yorks so I have made the most of it and got all the bedding washed and on the line. I love the smell of line dried bedding...anyways back to MFWing.

    Today I have/aill -

    - Checked Freecycle
    - Done several polls on OnePoll
    - Applied for a second job
    - Shopped at Lidl (instead of Morrisons) saved about £5
    - Only used half a small packet of mince in tonights spag bol, other half will make cornish pasties for tomorrow.
    - Overpaid last remaining credit card by £120
    - Refilled my water bottle before I walked to hopsital appointment.
    - Walked to hospital, bus back.
    - Two lots of washing on short cycles and dried in the sunshine.
    - Free exercise walking the dogs in the sunshine.
    - Free train travel pass arrived in post (works perks) yay!
    - Updated self employed works file.

And that is it so far...however I may scrub the kitchen and back hallway floor later with stardrops...if I am feeling energetic. ;)

    Have a great day

    Bams x x

I was just giving todays reminder - I learned of the rise about a week ago on this very same thread. It's nice that we all look after each other's interests. Thanks ladys  (Do we have any fellas on here?)
  • The haircut went well (at least, I didnt come out looking like any of curlygirls pictures !)
I was a nice place, a bit tucked away down a side street, hence I think, the price.
The girl who did it was lovely too. I dont think she cut it quite as well as my usual but I think I will go again - if only for that "inbetween" haircut.
£22.50 to the op pot !!
Called in a the bank on the way and paid in my wages cheque. Im off work next week so I ran the payroll early for my own benefit !
Just need it to clear now then I can start to do the monthly juggle.
