checked banking/zopa etc, and worked out i owe the world about £19.5k which is over £4k less than one month ago. :j
And as for thinking back 6 years ago, we owed £70k on the mortgage then, and now it is £28k, so a few years does make a big difference.

That is a fantastic achievement. It's brilliant when you see stats like that written down. There really are some financial stars on this forum

Ah, thanks for the encouragement. ;)

The amount we owe on the mortgage keeps falling, it is the balance between savings and paying for stuff being done that keeps us fluctuating.

In real terms, i am only a few hundred pound better off than 3 months ago, but we have also Mot'd both cars, paid for car repairs, cleared a £360 vet bill and ordered a £2k sofa.

Seems to be working at the minute, and while the rates are on my side i am going to be continuing to work away. :D

    Hhm

    Nothing much MFW today :(

    *OP went out automatically

*Free lunch at work and charged my mobile there

*Didn't manage a NSD as paid for a prescription but I am going to hot foot it over to the NSD thread and beg Solventsoon's forgiveness for a 8 month absence and join up for March

*MPG went to pot as I tore around late for work and appt

*Will have to put heating on later to dry some stuff I need quickly (no TD and live on v busy road so don't like my clean clothes out there)

    * But I am working out if I can make the OP from next months budget this month (ie. due to spending on CC the CA 'float' may just well support a very early OP). The magic of spreadsheet accounting will present the answer to me....

    * Have today worked out what I'm going to be eating for the rest of the month and due to eating at mum's , eating at BF's  I can feed myself from the freezer apart from fruit, milk and a couple of other small bits - won't need to spend much.

It's a bit concerning how other people's MFW 'Small Things' are about actually doing something (ie cooking, making, baking, earning) and mine are about avoiding :(

    *went to work!
    *NSD
*worked out interest we're saving having money offset and looked at projected MFDs to keep me motivated
*realised I'm lucky to get free lunch at work. I usually have to grab sandwiches and some salad but it saves a lot!

This thread is really useful. I'm going to keep an eye on mpg on way too and from work and see if I can improve it any more as petrol is such a big cost!

    Today I have -

    - Made my monthly OP
    - Moved money around to get the Halifax £5 reward and Lloyds vantage interest
    - Took own lunch to work
    - Tea from leftovers
    - Enough food in to last me til early next week so not going food shopping til then :)
    - Topped up phone (I class this as moneysaving as I have moved from contract to PAYG and now costs less per month plus can keep an eye on what i'm spending texting and calling)
    - Made flapjack to go in work lunches rather than buying biscuits/small choc bars
    #39 - Save £12k in 2025

    My small things today:
    1. Toluna - 2 x surveys totalling 4,800 points. But zip on onepoll, depsite looking on there a lot today
    2. Ordered a £10 Mr T voucher from VO for accumulated credits
    3. DH brought home another M & S chicken salad, fresh fruit and a bottle of freshly squeezed orange juice...all courtesy of his free lunch allowance at his work again. Plus all healthy, great for the diet :D

Not a lot from me today:
    • 20p on Onepoll
    • DH liftshared with a colleague so saved a lot of petrol (they're doing it again tomorrow - good as it's a 60 mile round trip)
    • Not strictly from today, but reviewed my first non-baby item on Dooyoo yesterday - was very pleased with myself for thinking about something other than toys and pushchairs.
    • Off to have a nose around Toluna and rate some reviews on Dooyoo now.
Have a good evening everyone :D

Would be doing more money saving but dooyoo and toluna are both not working for me tonight so i might be forced to take a night off. :o I was feeling really motivated too knowing how much DH needs out of savings for his car. Pants.

I dunno, do they not realise we have mortgages to pay off?

I guess i could tackle the ironing instead, or maybe read my book.
