They eat everything. Yes. I will need to do soup course too as they get older.
They eat carrot sticks and bits of whatever else veg wise i am preparing for dinner, their little hands forever sneak into the fruit bowl, and they also have discovered where i keep the bag of dried cranberries that are meant to go on my porridge. Little monkeys. They said today, we don't want the cake you made, we'll have these ones, and then wanted my muffins too.
As well as all that for lunch, breakfast time DS1 had 2 slices of toast and jam, DS2 had cheerios. DS1 had a slice of toast and lemon curd at nursery. They then wanted to snack this afternoon but i wouldn't let them, and they ate a 1/6 each of my homemade pie, a spoon of mash, and some broccoli, followed by a crunch corner size portion of yoghurt with extras.
I might need to go back to work just to feed them.
I'm lucky though as they do eat pretty much everything that other kids might turn the nose up at. :rotfl:
Anyway, long and short of it - yes. I will take the recipe you offered. It all helps.
I wish i had picked more blackberries to make into jam as they have nearly demolished my store from last autumn.0 -
4oz butter
4oz sugar (officially muscavdo, but I've been known to use normal cane sugar. i often use less with no ill effect, especially if using syrup etc)
4oz self raising flour
2 medium eggs
splash of milk
grease microwaveable bowl. cream the butter and the sugar. beat in the flour and eggs. add a splash of milk until you get a nice cake batter type consistency (for the can't cook/wont cook amongst us... Pammy..) you want it so that it will run off of the spoon without being watery.. we're probably talking no more than a tablespoon of milk in total).
if you want a plain sponge, you can just add it to the bowl and cook in the micro for 10-12 minutes (ours is a 850w micro). A cooked cake should have come away from the sides of the bowl, and if you insert a knife into the cake it should come out clean. It will rise slightly, but not a huge amount.
we love pineapple upside down cake... after greasing the bowl, add a very generous puddle of golden syrup. into this, arrange pineapple rings. pop a glace cherry in the middle of each ring and put the cake batter on top of it all. Once cooked, flip it upside down so the pineapple is on top of the cake and serve with lashings of custard/ice creamthis is a real favourite in chez pavlov, as the flavour of the syrup cooks into the cake and the resulting sponge is sooo sweet and light and fluffy and moreish that MIL actually invites me over with the sole purpose of cooking her one of these cakes
another cheap alternative is a generous puddle of jam instead of golden syrup. I'm planning on using lemon curd on my next one for a lemon sponge cake :drool: you could add dried fruit to the sponge mix too(spotted d!ck style). essentially it's a very forgiving batter - im yet to have one turn out inedible

* Got up late - no time for brekky at home, so had Oat biscuits and Cappucino at work - both free
* Had free lunch at work - but don't really like them. Mostly unhealthy unappetising sandwiches - would much prefer scrummy salad made up at home but really trying to cut back my food budget
* Remembered to charge my work mobile at work
* Continued to watch my MPG and work journey was 44.5mpg which is brilliant compared to a month ago - 38!!
* Managed to go into Tescos Extra and only spend £3.79 on things I needed (milk, ahem choc choc mouse 75p, vegetables to have as sides to frozen meals this week) despite walking through clothes and homewares aisles.
* Currently watching iplayer on laptop battery rather than putting telly on.....although I may have to in a little while
* Worked 2 hrs late so saved leccyokay so that's pushing it. Have switched heating off tonight, left the oven door open, put a jumper on and let my laptop warm me
*Not washed up. Live alone and some nights its just not worth the hot water, soap....it looks a mess but I can live with a little pile o' pots until tomorrow night
Anti-MFW
*Check-out Assist. didn't add my points and Customer Services was backed up so will have to get my 9 points added another time....or is that just a tad desperate?0 -

Oooh I'm stealing that as I don't usually see work as that positive!
*went to work and got paid!
Haha!I was trying to think of everything I'd done - and that was it really! I suppose its the biggest thing that I do to help with the MFW!!! I am hoping one day to say I have won the lottery but until then its the daily grind that will have to suffice!!!

Well - today wasn't all that MSing for me, mainly because I took delivery of a window that's going in our garage conversion and will have to pay £600 for it as soon as I get the letter from Hitachi Capital :rotfl:
In more positive MFWing:- Paid £4.38 into the mortgage account - the result of some Amazon selling
- Transferred £41.05 from Paypal to current account (for eBay sales)
- Got my Child Tax Credit (am going to savour this one and the next payment in 4 weeks as we won't get any come April)
- Arranged to pick up my parents from the airport on Wednesday when they get home (oh wait, that's not very MSing for me, but at least I save them a £50 taxi fare and I did spend all weekend at their house eating their food and using their washing machine and tumble dryer!
)

I went to work, overpaid on the mortgage (although it's classified as a March payment) and spent money on stuff I need - petrol, food, CD (for MOM), bills etc. Not a good day, but I hope to be frugal for the rest of the week - I have £15 and that should see me through until Saturday.Feb 2012 - onwards MF achieved

Yep onepoll doesn't seem to have many at the moment, and I do check a couple of times a day. As for your two boys...well my 15 yr old DS eats us out of house and home...and always has...just wish I could eat like him and have his flat stomach :rotfl:
I only got about 25p off Onepoll today too and I had it open all day (I flicked between that and my work rather than staring at it just waiting for surveys to pop up)
I don't want to hear any stories about people's sons eating them out of house and home... My son is only 16 months old and is already a gannet like his dad. I'm dreading him getting bigger and wanting more fuelling! :eek:0 -
Fantastic thread chamichelle, thanks so much for starting :T. On the treats for kids front, I get the large 1 litre pot of greek yoghurt from Lidl for DD for £1.55 I think and put a spoon of (Lidl own brand) jam on top. She loves to mix it in, there are no additives, it is dirt cheap, there's a bit of fruit in there and a good amount of fat which little growing ones need (not the horrible transfat ones). I'm sure some clever MSE type can work out cost per portion compared to a fromage frais, that is beyond me but I do remember reading they had about 5 teaspoons of sugar in each little one so stopped giving them to DD.
tyo - glad you haven't forgotten our exercise challenge, I know you can do it! Here's a little jump to get you going :j!
Anyway, today I have:
* found 21p
* done some worky work on first day back in office after leave
* put together paint it yourself canvas set I have had for years with staple gun borrowed from friend. Has all the paint in there, and will be some free art for our new loft room. Plus decluttered packaging into recycling once assembled too
. I have one other one too, but one step at a time!
* homemade lunch at work
* had to cancel meal out as OH working late and I needed to pick up DD, at least it meant I saved on the cost of the meal (the MFW silver lining)
* been paid :j! Just about to transfer money into joint account
* called First Direct, set up banking, and checked on progress of remortgage
* walked for 1 hr 35 mins (free exercise - does that count as one session tyo?)
* NSD :j!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
