    Hi

Another lurker here. Just wanted to say that I love reading this thread. I feel like I'm part of a conversation with neighbours in my own street. It's practical and also highlights issues we are all going through in today's society. Our aim is to get through things together and to feel supported.

I always find that when things are really tough here, this thread keeps me centred and distracted, A problem shared is a problem halved and also seeing everyone else troubles and sharing the good times makes me keep going. :)

No news on move here so very tense, have spent day with kids at my parents house being distracted beautifully - kids have had a ball and its definitely good not to be in a box filled mess all day :)

car insurance done - managed to get slightly cheaper than renewal by using a quote generated before rises that was still valid (just), have tried everything else and its not working. Ironically one of the guys working for my dad is 21 and just passed his test twelve months ago - he drives a very small old car and was paying £4000 a yr, since the changes he has been able to change policy and get it down to £1200 - so i guess some people are benefitting. :)

Most days I don't talk to another human being. The RV doesnt count. Virgos are not human.
.. running for the door before the massed ranks of mad Virgos come and get me..

    £4000?

How on earth did he afford that at 21? My son was 19 last week and his insurance from age 18 was £1500 - and I thought that was horrific. Admittedly, he had been driving a moped since 16 and passed his motorbike test the day after his 17th birthday but even so. As he said, he had two years' no claims bonus which he wasn't allowed to carry forward when he bought a car - although if he had had an accident that would have counted AGAINST his car insurance - you can't win!.

they are pretty unique Virgos--my wife is one! she has the memory of an elephant -she forgive me my trespasses but she never forgets them!--she is wonderful(just incase she hacks me) a whizz with the computer and nothing is sacred!--i just wonder why she likes grumpy capricorns (me and her dad)-we are so grounded whilst she is a social camelion who dazzles the crowds--while i am home in pipe and slippers watching football!!

İ remember the first car i insured in my name--a 2,5 i dolomite sprint--cost me 370quid fully comp at 17! i wonder İF a 17 year old could even get insurance on a group 7 car!
    mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.

    Hi

On the way home from a visit to town tonight the local market was closing up and I managed to haggle down a HUGE!! carrier bag of chestnut mushrooms to £1:D:D there sitting on the kitchen table looking at me through the plastic carrier my question is...

    CAN I FREEZE MUSHROOMS??????

Im ashamed to say that despite me being au fait with most kitchen things this is one area I know nothing about:o:o..so any help/advice appreciated dear forum peeps so that my bargain doesnt get wasted....

Life at chez Monty is going well, really have to watch the pennies now as the pounds have all gone till the end of the month then were back on track assuming the car passes its MOT without any repairs...cambelt change time is looming...hope to be able to put this off till end of the summer depending on the mileage we do...

Have been merrily planting seedlings and digging away most of the week...

Also the idea of going back to work has been knocked on the head, they have just announced 20 redundancies at the hospital where I worked at before:eek::eek::eek: so dont hold out much hope of going back there, and we need to get the guttering replaced before winter...

Have done a recce of our clothes and stuff, we should be ok, I have enough to last me, Montys jeans tshirt and holey jumper collection will see him through till autumn and Lucy has been the very lucky recipient of some fantastic quality hand me downs and I have some of her smaller stuff to recycle back.

Lady at local LETS has promised to show me the art of beekeeping in return for Monty chopping down an old diseased tree in her back garden, so thats some more wood to add to our woodpile for the winter of 2011..

Had a laugh today, in the next village local man with no money sense and big swimming pool came back from hols to find the local ducks had taken over his pool :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:very resourceful ducks ;) as the local council were clearing there duckpond so the decamped to his pool...saved us local ratepayers having to relocate em :T:T:T:T.

Hope everyones well...hugs to all who are having a not so nice time at the moment so gals and guys any mushroom ideas this bag is looking bigger by the min

    Hugs

Annie56 chop and fry off the mushrooms and then freeze them on a tray. Then put in a bag for later use.
