Ooh, came on to lots of posts and it's just people getting cross. How sad
I agree with earlier posters - greyqueen, I hope you carry on posting my love, even if you don't mention IB - and I do hope that it all works out for you, and would like to hear if/when you get a good solution as this is what is making things tough for you. We used to have a terrible neighbour - so bad I didn't feel safe letting the children out when he was about - and I know how AWFUL it is until you can finally get a solution - which in our case was the neighbour being evicted. And yes, he had drug problems and had been in and out of prison. We helped him out on more than one occasion and I did feel sorry for him - but that didn't stop him making our life a misery. We all know that social services tend to take the line of least resistance wherever possible, and they ended up having to act to find somewhere suitable for him - which they would never have done if all his neighbours hadn't complained.
Any old how - WELCOME to all newbies! We are not cliquey, honest! THis thread is GREAT. And may I just add, I am ChocClare of ChocClare's Chinese Chicken - first featured ON THIS THREAD in a reply to a post to GREYQUEEN.
So we do have our uses you see0 -
hello everyone, :hello: I have popped into these threads from time to time, but not for a while.
Whilst we are in a better state than we were a couple of years ago, mainly due to me now working. I am still trying to play 'catch up' from our darker days and get ahead before the next dip hits us. My job is only temporary via a recruitment agency so could end at any time.
We have an 8yo girl and an 11yo boy, who traded his apetite with a horses when he was a newborn. Anyway hubby recently hit on that if we gave him a plate of 'bits' eg meat/fish, salad, crackers, pasta. potatoes, with bread then he could make his own combo up, plus he'd take longer eating it and it worked out cheaper as we could put all the little ends of stuff onto the kids plates. I had similar for my lunch and I'm stuffed in a way that I can't remember being for a long time.
At the risk of sounding sexist.I also say get your manfolk to go tidy their shed. This has the added advantages of them doing a job without chuntering, keeping them from messing up the house whilst they are out there, and the treasures you find when they've finished.
I've got a large roll of sellotape. some window cleaner, carpet shampoo, ant powder and some arts and crafts bits for the kids that all turned up in there.

sounds like i will get screwed over on my classic car policy-i only drive my car for a month in any year but i see the Gov is making everyone insure vehicles 365 days a year--i am not sure if that includes cars that have SORN notices--ie off the road registered.mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0

Please start posting or keep on all you who have a mind to. About anything you like if it pleases you.
I'm very fond of a bit of adult discourse and am especially fond of engaging with people who don't hold the same views as I do. It keeps my mind limbered up and is sometimes the only human contact I have day-to-day, so I value it immensely.
I'll be very upset if the clever and interesting Grey Queen stops filling us in on what's happening with the nuisance upstairs as I've got a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge for when I get the news I'm hoping for. Lady: if you're reading this, please send me a PM and put me out of my misery when the time comes, OK?
Well, I think I've had some good news for a change: I appear to have a temporary job coming up. It's a month's work at a REALLY decent hourly-rate, it's just that the start-day has been put back from Monday to perhaps Tuesday or Wednesday next week. The pay coming in, even if it's for a short time, will make a huge difference to the B&T household fund as there are a couple of utility bills on the horizon which I should be able to pay without having to sell anything to raise the cash for it.0 -
Greg there has been a recent change in whether cars need insured if they are off the road or not, I don't know the details so best check the DVLA website. Hi everyone!
I have just got my car insurance renewal letter today and its cheaper than the comparison sites ....so some good news for a change!:D Its still gone up a bit , but after reading some of your quotes I think I am getting off lightly! Mine was £240 and has gone upto £290 for fully comp. Hastings direct btw in case anyone wants to check them out!
I have also come home today with 2 carrier bags loaded with fruit, tomatoes etc so now have a slow cooker full of what will be sauce for pasta/meatballs etc for nowt!:T All the stuff was going so be thrown away to my boss shared it out between us:D
Looks like my parents have had some good news too and they should be completing on the sale of their house next week...they have been waiting for weeks and started to worry it was all going to fall through.
This means they are treating me to lunch out tomorrow :Dand my dd will probably be coming along too as I think she has realized she doesn't really enjoy spending time with her dad..makes me a bit sad that she has got him sussed at 12 years old but I am not going to force her to do anything she doesn't want to .And I have not made any comments to influence her decision either way. My ds's on the other hand enjoy staying with him..for now...because he doesn't do anything with them (other than xbox,TV etc) and thats fine by them:( I prefer them to have a bit of fresh air rather than not leaving the house from Friday (when he picks them up) to Sunday (when he drops them off) every other weekend. The promises he made to them- that he would call in on his way past from work ,as he has to go past everyday (when he left) never actually happened-so the dog walks to the park etc that they were going to go on haven't happened either..or the nightly phone calls...hmmm am waffling sorry:o Physical activity obviously involves far too much effort but why brake the habits of a lifetime (or should I say marriage). It is now 10 months since we decided to seperate and I would love to know when I will stop getting so peed off with his lazyness?JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. I have found that although tough times are around at the moment there is such a lot you can get that is a 'freebie if you have a good shufti around.I live in Kent so I get one of my little grandsons to check the Kent online sites out for 'free' things to do.We have done quite a bit in the past week.Last sunday we took their fishing net and a bucket and some odds and ends and the boys went 'crabbing' on the front at Whitstable. We took a drink and some biscuits and cake and had a mini picnic.result was four rather muddy but happy little boys and my purse didn't have to open up once .Parks are free and lots of libraries have childrens things on Next weekend (easter) there is a big England show down at the local Riverside Park with free entrance and lots of bands, jugglers and entertainments available.I did splash out yesterday for the cinema for the boys but one was free as I have a cinema exhibitors ticket so the eldest one became my 'care' for the afternoon.Saved just under £7.00 for that ticket alone
I have lots of paper ,glue and cardboard that I save for rainy crafty days and the little ones try to make a rocket or spaceman with pens and paints and lots of glue and string.
I suppose its a bit easier for me as their Mum is at work and Dad works from home so I can devote myself to keeping them amused. But I love their school holidays and on Saturday we shall be going pond dipping to see whats in the local wildlife place .So much stuff is free its just a case of looking for it .My local council has made the swimming for under 16s and over 60s free so that will be another afternoon outfor us all0 -

There was a letter about this with my quote. It states that vehicles with a valid statutory off road notice (SORN) are not affected by this legislation.
For everyone else if there is no record on the MID ( motor insurance database) then you will receive a letter warning you that you can face a fine, clamping or even seizure and destruction of your vehicle.
You can check to make sure your car is on the MID by going to
www.askMID.com
Mistakes are often made by insurance companies (mine wasnt on there last year when I was trying to tax my car online!
If your not on there just contact your providor and make sure they update it.
Infact the letter recommends that you get into the habbit of checking:eek:JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

its usually so cheap to insure its worth paying just to have it covered for the garage but if its getting pricey i dont think i will bother reinsuring which will mean i get no usage(ever again!)--anyone know how to sell a toy!!?
Just heard Mr Bannister has diied--from are you being served--76--i remember him as a dashing young man!--its getting frightening this aging business!mfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
I've read the various discussion on how Board Guides do their job and how Old Style is organised.
I don't think it's necessary to pinpoint any particular poster or comment.
It's how Old Style has always been run, certainly from my experience as a poster and as a Board guide ( i was a poster for quite a while before becoming a BG so have seen both sides)
Can I just remind you all, the option is there to contact the forum team with any specific/general issues/feedback . Their email address is in my signature. Of course we also have the feedback board.
Kind regards
