re car insurance: EU countries should be able t sell us car insurance. I have friends fro overseas who as nationals of the country they buy their insurance in get v. cheap car insurance to drive their UK registered cars.

I have never understood why this isn't a route taken my EU countries looking to enhance their financial sectors.

greent,so sorry to hear about your dad, will be thinking of you.

Pitlanepiglet - loved the thought of us being round a kitchen table, wonder how big it would need to be????

I love this thread! It feels a bit like talking over the garden fence, which is what folks would have done in times gone by and if they were finding life tough, that's where the advice and friendship would have come from:) I am (hopefully)about to start a new chapter,XH is definitely buying me out of our house and I'm starting to look for a home of my own,but it will be in an area where I won't know anybody:( so reading here is helping me so much!!!

    Sorry for waffling on:o:o

Re car insurance and AA renewal - we always phone the AA and tell them we want to cancel. They ask why and we say we can't afford you. Every time (and this is for the last 3-4 yrs) they will give you a good discount to keep you. Re car insurance, get onto confused.com or somebody like them and get loads of quotes. Take the cheapest one and phone your ins co. and tell them you want to cancel because you can get it much cheaper, then give them the lowest quote. Sometimes they will match it or give discount. Not always maybe but it works for us.

Ok...rent-a gob is going to give an opinion. I blame PMT! :D:p These spats happen every month or so and that is my thought on the matter. Everyone - to the chocolate! :T

There is an ignore button. I find it most useful :D

Greent - I know exactly what you mean. It is only when something major happens that life is suddenly put into perspective. Now I dont do the whole *hugs* thing but on this occasion you can have one of these...X...chin up babe.

Lavandula - That is some achievement ref mortgage. I have an idea of getting mine done in 15 years but how did you do it?

Mardi - I do the same! They always seem to do a deal then. That said this year I went through Quidco and am now with the RAC for what amounts to £8.

I have just renewed my car insurance and my present insurer wouldn't quote on comparision site but on the phone gave me a quote of £976 instead of £1536 as cheapest on price comparision site.
I am insuring my 18 year old son as named driver on it hence the price its under £160 just for me.

I'm a 56 year old woman with an unblemished licence been a named driver on our policy for the car for 25 years and never any claims. Last November we had to replace our main car and at the same time we got a little car for me to use on little local journeys since i don't feel very happy driving a big car. So I was looking for quotes for me as main driver on the little car - It's a Toyota Aygo so should be the cheapest group or almost the cheapest. We looked at multi car quotes but it was cheaper in the end to have two separate policies

Cheapest quote we could get was £400 odd and that was with a one year NCD thrown in for free. Hopefully it should be cheaper next year when I have a NCD of my own. But it made me think, what would happen to women who are left on their own suddenly if the main policyholder dies. They might not have much money until everything is sorted out and that would be a big expense to transfer the insurance and happening when they have enough to cope with anyway
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

WELSHCAMPER - Good Luck re Baby.

I found out I was pregnant July 18th 2009 (day after my 26th birthday), found out it was twins 3 weeks later, and sadly on the 18th August was told I'd miscarried them. I was well and truely devastated as many on the 'tough enough/hard times' threads know being that they were there to help pick me up and comfort me afterwards.

Then Xmas day 2009 I was feeling off colour, did a predictor test on boxing day to say I was 5wks pregnant, went for the first scan on January 18th 2010, to be told I wasnt 8 weeks like I expected but was in fact 16 weeks! I came straight home , rang all my family and then broke the news to all the girls (and guys) here in my second little virtual home. Exactly one month later I broke the news that it was a girl, and she arrived safely 2 weeks late on July 14th and my little virtual family followed me every step of the way - I swear they are all secret private eyes when they arent on this forum!

I was tol dyou are most 'fertile' for the 4 weeks following a loss. x
    Time to find me again
