JackieO are you sure you didnt just wander into the freezer section of your local supermarket?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I have had a lovely lunch out with my parents and dd today and the sun was shining again...then I had to come home and am feeling very miserable.
I need to snap myself out of this and look forward to spending some time with the kids over the easter hols. Its not there fault I am feeling sorry for myself . So alone or not I am going to get us all out somewhere and enjoy it -damn it!
My ds's are back tomorrow from exh's so I am going to ask them all what they would like to do (within reason of course;)).
To my shame I havent planted a single seed this year either and my garden is a mess so that is something else I need to put right asap:eek:
Btw thanks to this thread at least I dont feel completely alone.JAN GC- £155.77 out of £200FEB GC £197.31 out of £180:o. MARCH GC - out of £200

mrswive we've planted butternut squash seeds for the first time this year as well and they're going great:)
JackieO I need to do your list thing, well done you x
DH read a tip that if you plant rocket salad in between your potato plants it helps to stop it bolting, so we are going to try that and see if it works.
The aubergines are taking a long while to germinate:( But everything else seems to be making progress:)
Dear Bertiebots, lots of hugs x. Glad you had a great time out for lunch. You deserve it. Maybe you could make up a picnic and take the boys to make a camp in the woods? My DGSs love doing that and clambering over fallen tree trunks etc. Hugs again xOutside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

IKEA bags are simply amazing. We found when living in cities we could get a whole big shop into one or two of them...so long as DH...my hired muscles..was there to carry them home. MUCH easier on a bus than eight carrier bags!
We've moved home using predominantly them, they get used for gardening, laundry being taken between home and london on the train taking laundry from mashine to line and line to upstairs.
we own two, but each has many, many uses.0 -
apparently Ikea bags are the in thing for moving house! My Ds used them when he flitted the other week. I use then for planting and they are a great success as you can move them if need be.
Went to the open day at the donkey sanctuary today and saw the craft stall half full of my things! thanks to all who gave me support with it. I spoke to the manager and have offered to help price all their bric-a-brac for the August fair. nothing had a price on it today and as an ex charity shop manager I thought I would be useful - they snatched my hand off. The manager is a podiatrist and offered me a free foot treatment in exchange - now thats bartering :T they like all charities are struggling so hopefully I can help build up the funds. Its great to find a use for my hard learned talents as I do feel a little wasted at home all day.Clearing the junk to travel light

i know a lot of you ladies are veggie growers, i wonder if any of you guys can help me out with a question.... I bought an aubergine plant last year which didnt flower but was growing happily away. Just found it again out the back, its about 14" high, no greenery on it yet - is it dead?!!!! or will it come back to life???0

Bertiebots
I don't post often because I don't feel I have much to add but your post was so sad. Things do move on and will get better. I'm feeling sorry for myself because twelve years ago I had a heart valve replaced and I've just been told I need another done. We will get through this. Promise.
MummyOfTwo Sorry but your aubergine will not have survived the frost if it is outside. The reason it didn't flower last year is because the need a long season of light and warmth.0 -
I usually just read rather than post and love having a little window into other people's livres. To me its great reading about what other people grow, have for dinner and what their families do.
I spent yesterday potting on all my tomato and pepper plants. I have six different types of toms, including black cherry, stripey ones (I think might be tigerella but they're Eden project seeds just labelled as stripey) green grape and golden sunrise so lots of different colours. I have three types of hot peppers/chillis but none of the ordinary ones germinated, disappointing as these were probably the only seeds in date all the rest were years old.:D I also have some aubergines and tomatillo's.
I'm off to the little plant fair they have at the county horticultural center near us this am with my MIL we always get lots of bargains. the horticultural center itself sells herbs for 50p each and trays of veg seedlings for the same.I was off to conquer the world but I got distracted by something sparkly

..."trays of veg seedlings" for 50p..._pale_ (as thats the nearest smiley I can get to "envious":rotfl:.
Cor....sighs...
Anyways..time to shift my !!! and get on with things...computers are a recipe for procrastination I sometimes think:rotfl:
Leave ya' to carry on for the day with the thread that, as someone put it, has "reinvented itself" several times - would that be a case of = its had more reinventions than Madonna has then?:)0 -
meanmarie you are very kind but I can see all the 'life' lines on my fizog
:)
bertiebots I promise you that very little in my freezer comes from a supermarket freezer section.I have this 'waste' thing that stops me from binning almost anything if I can make another meal out of it .Plus of course left overs when cold get frozen for another day.The bags of cabbage were from before my holiday as I didn't want to take them with me and so I chopped them up and bagged and froze them very handy when I only need a couple of handfuls for myself. The same with the mashed potatos I live alone so a 5 lb bag of spud last me for ages so if I think they are starting to sprout then I peel, mash and freeze in ice-cream sized balls once frozen they too are bagged .great as when I have my dinner I have a portion straight from the freezer to the microwave and in minutes I have my spud to accompany my meal. The bag of good gravy was left over from a delicious lamb casserole I made three weeks ago and it tasted just too good to throw away so its stashed until I next make another casserole to use as a base0 -
Well good morning folks! :jIts another beautiful sunny day here in west yorkshire ...infact its so sunny I have been outside topping up my little pond for the tadpoles (some people have been know to refer to it as a puddle!)! They are huge now and I dont think its going to be long till they have little legs! Dont know what the neighbours will think of this little 37yr old woman crouched staring (with slightly stupid grin on face) at her pond at 9am but hey ho..who cares:D...
Btw are you ever tempted to go to someone and say are you mad?...my next door neighbour never hangs her washing out NEVER! I have come home form work this morning and her tumble drier is humming away in her garage wafting its overpowering fabric conditioner smell down my drive:eek: I know its each to their own and all that -but its such a lovely day..and the sun is free;) I havent used my tumble drier which is burried under a pile of camping gear in the garage for 5 yrs! Infact I dont know if it still works- maybe I should put it on ebay if it does:T
I am off now to try wake the dd and see if she would like to go out somewhere.
Hope everyone has a lovely sunny sunday.
JackieO..of course in true o/s fashion -waste not want not and all that..my reference to the supermarket was meant as a joke-not a snipe at your impressive freezer contents. In the bean household its very rare that the young beans leave any leftovers to freeze
