Well, killing a bit of time after the end of my shift whilst waiting for the housing officer at 3.30pm to discuss Idiot Boy Repossession version 2.0; the Reprise.
I don't know whether to laugh or scream at some of the calls I've taken today. Would you, if you wanted a plan of the drains outside your home, ring up Provincial City Council (a good 40 miles away)? Or, living about 30 miles away, ring us up and ask us who your own council is? Was tempted to tell her to look at her wheelie bin as I know that LA has it's name and logo on its bins but I played nicely. Or would you cross 3 county lines to try serve notice to quit on your housing association home to us?
 What are people thinking and why do I get them all?!?Mini rant over.
Kidkat any progress on accessing that cabinet? I've often thought a little bit of lockpicking skill would be a useful OS skill; probably someone somewhere on a LETS scheme does it.....
Winchelsea you're so kind to offer me your copy of Hovel in the Hills, but I will pass but only because I have read it several times and have most of it in my head verbatim. The troubles she had with that mangle, eh?!
Will update you after the meeting if possible.....Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Well, legal team has advised the H.O. that he can use the existing Notice of Proceedings of Possession (NPP) already served on Idiot Boy (upstairs neighbour-from-hell to newcomers) to reactivate the court case at any time on grounds of continuing ASB even though The Other Council Department (TOCD) reached a last-ditch settlement with I.B. This is better than having to serve a fresh one. H.O. is not too happy with TOCD and it seems that the senior solicitor isn't either, so various senior types will be having a full and frank debate behind the scenes about how this went down (of which I will know nothing). H.O. is soul of discretion but did say that I.B.'s affairs with TOCD are as much of a mess as his ASB case.
We will watch and wait for a month to see if I.B. becomes a model citizen (hollow laughter) then look at going to court with the ASB. Watch this space.
Of course, I.B. might renege on his agreement with TOCD and then they'll not be happy bunnies. TOCD officers have targets to meet so they'll be held accountable......no more nightclubbing for him......I.m sure you'll join me in a collective "Ahhh" :rotfl:
So, do we want him to continue to be a wally this month? Short term pain for long term gain?0 -
GreyQueen I have read of your problems with your neighbours with some sympathy, having suffered neighbours from hell myself, but I am shocked and surprised at the amount of detail about your neighbour's personal affairs that you are privy to, surely the HO is breaking the DPA by telling you so much about it all? It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Hello Jackie, I respect your opinon but I don't think anything I know about I.B consitutes a breach of DPA. I, personally, have not accessed anything involving I.B. so therefore cannot breach what I do not know. I should add that due to the appalling lack of sound insulation between our respective homes, a person who speaks loudly broadcasts his affairs into other people's lives. I get to hear more than I want of I.B's business because he stands at his open window and discusses his affairs loudly on his mobile. This is foolish, of course, and you or I would not do such a thing. Since DPA 1998 only applies to "data controllers" (local authorities, hospitals, GPs, government departments, commercial businesses etc etc), what a person overhears in her own home from a blabber-mouthed neighbour isn't anything covered by DPA.
The H.O is, like me, trained on DPA. He is obliged to update me on the progress of my official ASB complaint against I.B. as this is my business and is for me to know, up to a point. He had to tell me that he hadn't managed to resolve the behaviour (I'd noticed) and that it was going to court and that the case was appended to TOCD's case, rather than going purely as his ASB case. He also had to tell me that the case had been adjourned and that it was a result of the actions of TOCD rather than his own.
He has not told me for a moment which department TOCD is but I know which one it has to be, by process of commonsense elimination (cannot be highways/ parks/ allotments/ elections etc etc.)I hope that clears it up to everyone's satisfaction. My employer is very hot on DPA and I cannot even access my own files or own rent account never mind anyone else's!
As part of my job I get to talk to all sorts about all sorts, including CID, regular Police, Social Services, anti-terrorism officers and SOCA, MPs and Uncle Tom Cobbley and all and we're very very cagey about DPA-protected information, believe you me.
Signing off for the day now, so won't be ignoring you or anyone else who posts on this subject; catch up tomorrow.

It wasn't a dig at you personally GreyQueen, but having had similar problems as I said, I was always met with a wall of silence from the housing Officer when I asked questions about what happened, and I certainly wasn't insinuating that you had done something underhand through your own employment. I'm sorry if you've taken it to mean anything else. xIt's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Can I have a moan please? My dog just broke one of the few things we own that we chose. Its not replaceable ..its a vintage acyrlic lamp. My mother bought them ..it was one of a pair....because we were too tight too though we saw them loved them and negotiated on them they didn't come to a price we could stand so we walked away ...my mother bought them. I suppose I have to claim on our insurance to try and get a repair...I've never made a house insurance claim....is it a nightmare?
I know I shouldn't cry over a ''thing'' but I did I admit it. I love the dog more than the thing, and she's not in trouble, but I am still v. sad.0 -
I've never claimed on house insurance before so I unfortunately can't advise you about that. I sincerely hope that the guilty party was not that beautiful grey of yours, now in serious disgrace. If it was any other dog I'd tell you to make it sleep out of doors as a punishment for a night or two.0

Dog-dog wouldn't break anything (if she did she'd make sure she wasn't caught)!
No 'twas the other one who is a klutz and a blunderbus. No one has to sleep outside. It was an accident....she didn't choose the lamp, and she was running to the door barking to let me know someone was there.:( I just wish she hadn't!0 -
