rachbc- I agree with grandma247, if you could maybe offer to do something specific rather than a generalised offer, or even an agreement to sit with FIL once a week for a couple of hours and MIL goes out and just has free time. The break would probably be very refreshing for her and give her a chance to take a breath as it were.

Am in alot of pain today - my back has flared up, probably not helped by the packing and box lifting that is in progress, had call yesterday to say valuation still not done as valuer cant get anyone to speak to him and arrange a time!!! Have rang agent this morning and she is on holiday (how nice for her) and not passed any messages on!! Hopefully a kick up the behind will move things along.

Going to get as much washing done as possible and get it on the line today as its due to rain.

OH has lost a key to a glass display cabinet (its really old) and I cant get the stuff out to pack - any ideas on lock picking??

Am going to start packing stuff from the kitchen that we dont use daily - but not really keen on using newspaper to wrap as it will make everything dirty and need washing other end - any suggestions?
:) I have found that some of these kind of locks can be opened by a similarly-shaped key belonging to something else, although it's a long shot that you might have one on the premises. Other than that I'm stuck; hairpins?

Sorry that things didn't work to plan but I love that you have got enough spirit to keep going, I hope that never leaves you as its more powerful than any financial gain and I belive firmly in what goes around comes back to bite you on the bum : 0 )

So pleased to hear babies have arrived safely and fingers crosses all mums in waiting don't have to wait too much longer.

We are moving shortly and money will be tight to the point of non existance so the aim is to buy with a buffer amount left over to keep us going until we get jobs (fingers crossed and legs too if it helps)
What I do know is that I have learnt so much from this site, if you could be paid for the advice, support and knowledge you freely give you would all be millionaires.....thanks!

Oh shegar - I do SO feel for you - I gave 24/7 care to my DH for ages, until it was taken out of my hands and he was taken in to hospital, then a nursing home, where he now resides. I too was completely drained, but I still felt very guilty that I was no longer doing the 24hr care. Have now (after nearly a year) got used to the idea, and know that for both of us it is the best option.

So I do take my hat off to you, still soldiering on. Just look after yourself as much as you can, accept any offers of help, and remember that we, your OS friends, are here to support you. You are welcome to PM me if you want.

((((BIG HUGS)))) coming your way. x

GreyQueen - Hovel in the Hills is by Elizabeth West. I have an old copy surplus to requirements - feel free to PM me if you'd like me to send it. I love that book, but have photocopied what I need from it.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I'm so tired today. I've had to keep kicking my self to start and struggling to get to the end of HHC on Flylady and I've just realised I've been sitting down for an hour and a quarter and I'm still exhausted. :(

Just got back from the hospital after having my collar bone x-rayed. Suprisingly quick, probably because its computerised now. However I have to wait 2 weeks for the results to get to my Gp!!! Asked very nice radiographer if she could give me a clue as I am a carer and have a large grumpy man to lift. I didnt want to be doing serious damage to myself. So she whispered well if it was bad I would have whisked you off to casualty but there doesnt seem to be a break - bless she was so nice and went beyond the call of duty. So what the heck is causing pain in the middle of my clavicle I dont know but it blinkin' hurts.

NSd again today :j only cos the cafe at the hospital doesnt serve toast after 11.30 :o I was looking forward to tea and toast. So i am off to sort out the fabric my Mum gave me yesterday and make step Dgs a quilt cover, plain blue with a piece of Bob the builder fabric sown in the middle - saved at least a tenner :T

Hugs to all in need :hello:

  • Hello, so glad this thread is back in OS. Haven't managed to catch up on all the posts yet, after we moved house we spent 2 months without the internet. Absolute nightmare! I'm so glad I started on the OS way before we moved when we still had jobs, aside from a bit of temporary work we can't find anything but so far managing to survive. NSDs are much easier when you have nothing to spend but in a way I'd got out of the habit of spending anyway. I realised in March that I hadn't bought anything other than essentials since Christmas! Depressing in one way but good in a money saving sense.
Hope everyone is struggling along as best they can :)

Hi Lilykins - I did post a link to her blog when I replied to your original question - if you see something written in blue in a reply, you can generally click on it and it will take you to the page.
