Myself and my friend (who is with barcleys) are doing this together for moral support, we sent off first letter on same day, she had her statments yesterday( and £10 cheque returned) i havent heard anything.
It has only been just over a week, just wondered how quick natwest are at sending out the statments?
You could go into your bank and request them again from there, as you have already paid for them they shouldnt charge you again. Give it another week though first, I think they usually take 2 weeks to come. No harm though in speeding them up, this is what I did. What goes around comes around0 -
Hi!
Just to let you all know that I've been "doing the dance" with the Nat West since September, and they've run me a merry old game.
I'm claiming for £2600 and they first offered me £153 first and then only £88 .. naturally, I've refused both offers.
I've been "scaremongered" too. The last letter I received off them after doing all the things that this forum's advised ( .. and thank God for that) said: " .. if you take us to court you will not win!"
.. so I took them to court today! After giving them plenty of warning over the last few letters. It cost me £120 to do and my heart was in my throat as I did it, but .. I gave them plenty of warning.
I'll let you know how I get on, but I'm glad I did it .. I feel empowered. I hate those inhuman Nat West bast***s with a passion you can only dream of.

If anyone needs any help please pm me, I am happy to help in any way I can, however as I said before I cant talk highly enough of the advice given on the CAG website, please please read their advice, take your time, soak it in, absorb it, then go for it.
Do it all as per their advised process and I will promise you, you will get your money back.
Tell me if Im wrong Martin! There's a challenge for you! It's there because this money is YOURS people not THEIRS.
Here to help. What goes around comes around0 -
Sounds to me as if you've been admirably restrained.
I decided to go straight for the jugular - straight to court after first refusal.
£120 for me too.
Who knows what's going to happen, but I know they do not want to go to court.
Keep going Ken! :jClaiming against Nationwide £2500Others to come!0 -
Hi all received my statements within a week and was quite suprised the amount i was charged for returned DD .The actual amount came to £ 666 ,i nearly freaked out as thats the sign of the devil as they say .I can see me having a few problems with that as im quite supersticious.Anyway i sent the letter requesting they pay me back within 14 days.I received a statement today another returned DD from last month which amounted to £2.65 they have charged me another £30 for this which is due to be taken out on the 15/12/06 but there isnt any money in to cover it .As im on the sick and will be for a while now waiting for operation. What will they do if i cant pay this £30.With xmas on the doorstep etc its impossible im hoping they will pay me my Devil money. Do i now just wait for the 14 days to come up.Ive checked with royal mail and no signs of them receiving it yet but its only 2 days.Is anyone else claiming againgst NW at the moment on here. I will keep you informed as i might need a bit of guidance along the way,as ive heard they can be tough cookies. And i might crumble at the thought of court it terrifies me,but im gonna stick to my guns.As i remember 2 years ago they were taking the charges out of my benefit money. My OH has our benefit paid into a PO Account now.0

Yes, they are tough cookies, but .. don't crumble. I'm taking it all the way with Nat West ( .. I started a Court action against them on the 31st October).
Stick to your guns, parki. It's nerve-shredding, and it's a "David Vs Goliath" scenario; but .. us David's are getting biggerNat West = CONQUERED: 10/02/07 .. PAID UP IN FULL .. OVER £2800!! :j0 -

I don't recommend people do this. Issuing a court claim should always be regarded as a last course of action in any situation (not only with bank charges).
In a small claims action, it's not looked upon well if you have jumped straight for court action instead of trying to resolve the situation before issuing a court claim. Martins article, and the advice given at consumeractiongroup both say to write twice to your bank (first letter asking for the charges, then the letter before action) asking for the money back. Part of the reason for doing this is that this shows the court that you have made every effort to try to settle this matter before issuing a court claim. It's not to give the bank more time to hold onto your money.
Martins article, and the advice over at CAG has been fully researched and thought over before being published on the net. If you choose to skip any points in the process, you may ultimately damage your claim, and the chance of getting your money back. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
