Hi,
Ive just joined the forums to let everyone know how i'm getting on with claiming my charges back from Natwest. So far ive had my statements and posted off the first letter requesting my charges back 14 days and counting.0 -
I sent of a letter to Natwest on Sunday and got a reply today, I sent of the template letter with the charges listed etc, the reply said they would not be refunding me as it was in the terms of the account when I signed up:mad:
What do I do now?0 -
Read the instructions in the article, it's all there.

You need to send a Letter Before Action giving them 14 days before you file a court claim.0 -
This is a perfectly normal response from Natwest. Just move on to the next step of the process as listed in Martins article.
They said the same on a claim I'm pushing through Natwest. Then they offered (on a claim for £2600) £264 (turned down), £1300 (turned down), £1700 (turned down) all the while saying that it was in their terms, and they wont refund they charges.
Carry on with your claim as normal. They will try to scare/bully you, but they are the ones acting unlawfully, not you.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi Guys
I previously had an Advantage Gold Acc with Natwest, which has now been frozen since aproximately Nov 04 due to the debt I built up on it!
I have been currently paying back the money to the bank to clear off the arears, but since seeing the item on BBC Morning news (Dec 1st), I was wondering is this also a case I can fight to get back the excess charges I was hit with?
I had an agreed £1000 O/D , but due to circumstances I was over my limit and forced on a quite a few occaisions to use my Cheque book and cheque gurantee card to draw maoney to live on/paybills etc...
Each time I cashed a cheque I was charged £30 by the bank, and in the end the account was frozen with a balance of aproximately £3200, aproximately 1/3 of which is made up of charges for the guaranteed cheques plus also missed D/D charges, Unauthorised O/D charges etc..
Is this still a case I can take up, considering I have allready agreed to pay back the money with a re-payment plan?
Any advice would be most welcome

They've got back to me and of course, declined.
So immediate money claim online application!
Now it's wait and see...
Baggie bird, have you claimed back charges yet?? If so, use to pay off loan perhaps??? That's a phenomenal rate of interest, can you get another cheaper loan to pay it off?
I think the suggesting a loan to pay for unlawfully high charges is mis-selling, but of course no-one has successfully taken the bank to court to demonstrate they are illegal as everybody settles out of court! So it's not legally mis-selling...yet.
In the meantime you just have to bite the bullet and accept you've taken out this loan. I had to really.

i have a couple of live accounts with natwest which they have "kindly" sent me the statements for however, approx 18 months ago i had an account with them which i closed - i have made numerous requests to natwest to receive the old closed account details - i am just getting passed around, frequently been given my current account details! without the old account number i can't claim back the charges, i just seem to be going around in circles with them - any idea's on how i can obtain these details would be gratefully received.0

Myself and my friend (who is with barcleys) are doing this together for moral support, we sent off first letter on same day, she had her statments yesterday( and £10 cheque returned) i havent heard anything.
It has only been just over a week, just wondered how quick natwest are at sending out the statments?Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
Just to let you know I previously claimed from Natwest back in April/May before Martins appearence on Trevor Macdonald.
I claimed back just under £1500
I sent my first letter after receiving my statements which arrived in seperate lots, some missing and some in opened torn tatty brown envelopes
The first letter I sent to the registered head office and also the customer services department, recorded delivery and then I rang Stuart Higley, (the top guy) to say I had done so.
All this information I got from spending a good couple of weeks reading and reading everything on the CAG website.
All the information is there and I really cannot praise this site enough and the people who give up there time.
I did get every penny back needless to say, I do believe I was one of the lucky ones as I got my money back within the time limit I gave them to the day.
Stick to your guns and read up as much information as you can.
Good luck everybody claiming back was is rightfully theirs.;)What goes around comes around0
