  • Hi Podrick - that was quick going. I'm sending off my reply tomorrow, I have also added that I want listed any manual intervention (as recommended earlier in the thread). Hope my statements come back as quick as yours. Cant wait to get my claim in! I'm also doing HSBC and a Monument credit card, but still waiting for statements from them too.

Wow, I'm shocked. Natwest were an absolute pain with statements for me. They haven't even included overdraft information and they've lumped together charges so it's hard to see what's what. I only know how different they are because they only send 4 years the first time and after a couple of phone calls and the delivery first of just another couple of weeks, I finally got full statements for the previous two years with all the info on. I guess it depends on branches.

Yes, it wasn't that easy Strep. It was the 3rd letter I sent. The first two were ignored believe it or not.

This is how incompetent they are. I got a letter stating could I confirm my address before they send the statements for security reasons etc., and I also got a parcel containng my statements - on the same day! Just as well it was my address...

Anyway I wrote to an address in Edinburgh which was given to me from another moneysaver - you can find it at useful addresss in the bank charges thread.:T

    Hi,

I currently have a Natwest account I'm claiming back my charges on. I also have two mortgages with Natwest. Although I'm not claiming back any fees on these accounts are they likely to shut these down if they don't like my letters?

  • went over my overdraft with natwest my o d was £1300 they wouldn,t give me time to pay this off i was made to take out a loan and now have to pay back £3500:
  • I am just going through 6 years+ of statements kindly(!) sent to me by NatWest by return of post for 2 accounts. I am shocked to find over £1000 worth of charges. My question is this - I was charged over £100 in October 2000 (I must have been having a bad month), is it too late to reclaim this as it was over 6 years ago? I'm not sure how the six year rule works. Any advice gratefully received.

Bank Charges Reclaimed from NatWest £1400
  • This is to tell you of my progress in reclaiming punitive charges from Natwest with whom I have banked for over 40 years. After various letters to them with no joy I have completed forms on-line to go to court. (Cost £120 plus amount claimed £1514 plus interest at 8% - £435 approx.plus costs.) After various letters from them full of legal jargon plus a letter to move the claim to my local court (which cost me £100) they have written to offer me £1200. I guess the letters were supposed to frighten me plus the extra £100 cost was to try and price me out of claiming. However I have stuck with it. They will only give me the £1200 if I withdraw the case plus not reveal any details! I guess they're thinking about the press as well as this website. I intend to say no as they are the ones who have pushed this so far. If they had settled for the amount (£1514) then they could have avoided all these solicitors fees plus the interest plus my charges. I shall say no to their offer and I'll go to court (very nervous, actually) and hope I get it all back.
  • OK. I've done it. Claiming back just under £5000. I filled out MCOL last night and the status says 'requested'. Wish me luck! Thanks for all the help. I NEVER would've gone to this stage without the help and support that this site offers.

  • hi I am new here and didn't think I would ever need a site like this until today! My partner and I have a joint account his wages are paid in to the account every month and then I put my cash in from my wages in every month as well, all bills are paid from this account on 28th till 1st every month, simple I thought. But no............. I didn't know that even though I pay cash into the account on the 28th (my payday) all the direct debits that come out that day do not get paid and so we get charged. For the last six months for every direct debit that has not been paid we get charged £38 and we hadn't noticed (i know I know how did I not notice) and in the last 6 months these charges have come to £1216.00 because it is about 6 direct debits every month. I could scream so very loudly and my mum is having kittens cuz i'v rung her and asked for advice and i'v already had the lecture of why have I not noticed. I telephoned natwest to ask for an explanation and didn't get very far and so someone told me to go on this site and all will be revealed. So do you think I will have any chance of getting these charges back??
