I don't see the problem with sending a letter. Recorded delivery would cost very little (make sure anything you send is signed for).

I believe Natwest will settle in full anyway, I've been further than you are at court stage and received a full settlement from them. This doesn't mean that you can just ignore everything sent to you. They have made an offer. You are at a stage now after giving them enough warning that this offer is not good enough now. Do not just ignore their offer. Write and tell them why the offer is no good, and what you want to settle the claim. It wont hurt, it wont take much time, and it may lead to a full settlement a bit quicker.

I will draft the letter now, i have nothing to be afraid of which is why i think i would have not responded.

Thank you for your help, it is very much appreciated, i will keep you posted.

Susplum, As my Gran used to say, if you don't ask, you don't get. It can't hurt to find out what you are owed, and ask for it back with the initial letter. What's it going to cost? £1.
You never know, you could be one of the lucky ones that gets an instant cheque!

  • i just got a letter from them today \o/

well the first page said "For these reasons, we do not agree with the basis of your complaint, We believe the charges we levy are providing services that they are not panelaties or charges for default blah blah blah."

    then on the next page

"However, Having reviewed your case and as a gesture of good will and without admission of liability or error, in this instance we are prepared to offer the ammount of £640"
then in the end They ask me to sign for it and return to them? (Is that normal?)

Anyway WOOT! i sent them 1 letter no need to take it to the next level/court fees!

EDIT: Letter sent on 03 Jan, Recieved on 03 Feb lol exactly one month, but the letter was dated on 26th of jan so... prob its the post office

    Thanks moneysavingexpert, and thanks Rex_Mundi

    Hi

If you've been following my thread, the last post was about how the court has moved to strike their defence because they're always settling before it goes to hearing.

Well....I can't say any more now because I've signed a confidentiality agreement. (do I need to explain why?)

But...I would say I am now a happy bunny. :rotfl:  :D

    Keep going everyone!

  • Nickmack, Could I just confirm your statement that if I take my claim to the small claims court and lose it I will not have to pay the bank's costs. I'm very nervous about the whole thing but pretty determined
