Since you issued a 14 day letter and they didnt respond, you should just go straight to court. Follow the advice on this site, read all the sections concerning claiming charges and fill in the form properly giving details of the charges they levied, why they said they levied them and why they're unfair (because they are excessive under the relevant law). You can find all the information you need on this website. Best of luck.
Thank you very much for responding.
I have done everything correctly so far and want to make sure it stays that way.
I must admit I am very nervous now, I have read some nasty stories on the forum about how NatWest have behaved towards claimants, looks like I have got off lightly......... so far and I am very grateful to have found such a fantastic website.
Cheers

i have just written the first letter requesting the list of charges aplpied to my account. do i send this to my branch, or is there a better address to send it to?
i just want to say thanks to all of you, i thought that attempting to reclaim my bank charges would be a complete waste of time, but with all the success stories on here i've been filled with hope. the support and encouragment available on this site is inspiring, so many thanks!0 -

Do i send natwest another letter before i start court proceedings letting them know?
Am I liable to end up in court because i was receiving referral charges sometimes £75 a month??
See post #3 in THIS THREAD for the address you need. You do not have to write to Natwest again. You are not any more liable to end up in front of the judge because of this type of charge. The banks are settling in 99.9% of claims (including court claims). You stand a VERY good chance of getting all your money back. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Unfortunately, the most likely way of getting your charges back is by issuing a court claim. Natwest like to muck you about (but cave in eventually).

Thank you very much for the link and thank you for the reassurance.
I will keep posting throughout the process.

This is the letter I have drafted to Natwest, I have found most of my statements from my time with the bank and calculated these figures using the calculator on this site.
Is this letter OK to send to them?xx

Dear Sir or Madam,Re. Account number: xxxxxxxx (Sort Code: xx-xx-xx)
I am writing to request that you repay all the default charges that have been applied to my account. I do not believe these charges reflect the true cost to Natwest of going into unauthorised overdraft.
The charges total £2771 I believe I have been unlawfully deprived of the money and therefore ask that you repay me the full amount. Please find a full schedule of the charges with this document. Please note that should this go to court I will be entitled to £225.59 interest, bringing the total you owe me to £2996.59.
Without prejudice
The charges and interest I have claimed above total £2996.59. However, if you are prepared to pay to me £2200 within 14 days of the date of this letter (and, for such purpose, time shall be of the essence), I am prepared to accept this lower figure in full and final settlement of my claim and interest. I will not cease proceedings until this figure is in the afore mentioned bank account, or received as a cheque.
I look forward for a full response to this letter within 14 days.
Yours faithfully,

I made a claim to Natwest who informed me this morning that they'll reply - cos everyone else is making claims in - by the second week of February.
Now I'm fine with that, I understand with the publicity, more people are doing that and now I know - after having to call  - that that is why there's a delay.
They want to take out a charge - that I haven't claimed for because it came with this month's statement and i filed my letter on the 30th December.
But yes. I broke my heart on the phone to the girl detailing how I can't afford it, and the reason that I am going overdrawn is cos they keep taking the charges - the money that I need for other things, so I have to keep using money that isn't mine to cover what they've taken! All she could do was give me a goodwill reduction to £14, andshe couldn't even do that cos I had one in December last time I complained. I asked to speak to a manager and she couldn't find one, so one is ringing me back anytime now.
What do I say please? I will continue with what I've said to her and repeat it to the manager and stay firm and hopefully it'll be some use, but is threre anything else I should put forward to get that £28 not taken off?
Thank you0
