It is live that you can go back to 2002. Here is a quick guide
(1) Log into NatWest online banking,
(2) Go to statements on the right hand side and click on that,
(3) then on the drop down menu it says "historic transactions" then you need to choose dates not more than 12 months, ie 5th October 2002 until 4th October 2003, etc, etc,.
Hope that helps, however that information ie past the last 12 months is not available in the branches as it stand at the moment.
Apologies for bold type.

Hi
I sent a letter to Natwest 2 weeks ago ( using the template of the first step letter on this site), asking them to refund all the charges they had applied to my account in the past 5yrs. They sent me a letter back saying that they can not do anything untill the OFT case is settled.
I am currently not working and doing my MSC project and really need the money as i am getting into debt.
What should i do now?
what letter should i send them?
Thank you0 -
Hi, I've been considering reclaiming from Natwest too, but I've got an overdraft on the account which I pay off at £40 a month, do you mind me asking have you got an overdraft on the account? I'm too scared to send them a letter because I'm worried they'll close the account and won't pay me! did yu have to pay for the statments? Sorry to hijack, maybe we could do this together? ?0

Hi everyone,
I am seriously considering contacting my banks to try and reclaim charges from them. I have two joint accounts with my boyfriend and the account that was originally his with HSBC is debitted each month with 150 quids worth of bank charges! However, I'm a little worried as to how the bank will react towards us. I understand that at the moment I can't reclaim anything because of the hold, but, supposing it goes in favour of the consumer, will the bank close my account or anything? I am with NatWest who I also have my mortgage with and I don't want to do anything to cause myself problems.
Any advice greatfully received0 -
Natwest do not routinely close bank charge claimant's a/c's, even less likely in your case, since presumably the mortgage is serviced by one of your a/c's .0

Hello,
I received a letter yesterday from Natwest letting their intentions to file a default to "recover debt" from my accounts be known. The deadline given is the 6th September, though they said 28 days (mid-Sept) which contradicts.
The account in question is a joint account I opened with a housemate a couple of years ago. We overdrew on our final utility bill by £3 and since then we have been accumulating charges, though only my friend was receiving the statements. He's been abroad on a sandwich year so its been steadily going further into debt without us knowing. I am a recent graduate so with that I also have a Natwest graduate account with £1600 interest free overdraft. I am £1500 into that allowance and have never overdrawn on this account.
As I say they sent a letter demanding I sort out the joint account debt (which stands at £388.37) but that debt is singularly made up of charges. In fact looking at past transactions the account has paid out £463 of "unlawful charges". They have given me 28 days to pay back both the £388 and the 1500 overdraft (which I obviously can't!) or make alternative arrangements. I was wondering if anyone has been in the same situation and could offer advice. Should I proceed to send off both the Data Protection Act Letter for 'official' statements (I have a list with the charges, interest and dates already) and the letter claiming them back as unlawful and disproportionate charges? I already have them written ready to send.
I'm obviously going to pay a visit to my branch shortly but I wanted to be sure of what I should say. For example should I tell the person I'm talking to that I intend to reclaim the charges back? Or, that I intend to take my business elsewhere forever, unless they come to a reasonable solution?
As an aside, for anyone who has experience of this situation, is it at all likely in the next 28 days that I could move the 1500 overdraft to another banks graduate account. At the moment I'm between jobs so I can't join a lot of accounts so RBS (though with them being affiliated Natwest won't help, or will that not matter?) and Lloyds are the only graduate account that seem at all likely to accept me. Are they both likely to reject me on account of 14 months of charges going against my credit rating?
Sorry for going on, I just have a lot of information I need to clarify before I take the next steps. I appreciate that I've asked way too much in my post so feel free to answer as much or as little as you want! Any help is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance

I forgot to say they have specifically charged each account (including my account thats within alloted overdraft) £30 for the "notice"! is this reclaimable too? Should I also ask for the interest back that has been accumulated thanks to charges alone? it makes up 31 pounds0
