Hi Everyone
Is there anyone online at the moment who can tell me if Natwest are telling me the truth or not? I received a call from the today (I know...unbelievable!!) saying that they will only pay back the charges and not the interest thereon if we settle over the phone. They say that is their right and they never pay the interest if settled out of court!!
Does anyone know otherwise because my interest Is over £1000.?
Thanks in advance for any help.0 -
Hello, I'm a "Newbie" but have been reading the Natwest thread for ages.
After doing MCOL, just got a cheque through from Natwest credit card for the full amount of my claim (£736), they said "it was not commercially viable or cost effective for the Bank to defend this claim".
Details for info:
25th Feb - Wrote off for charges
27th March - Received statements
28th March - Sent 1st letter requesting refund of charges + interest
9th April - Offer received of £228.96 (a "goodwill gesture")
10th April - Sent letter rejecting offer, asked for full amount
13th April - Same offer received of £228.96 ("final offer")
16th April - Sent Letter Before Action
20th April - Received letter saying last letter was their "final response"
26th April - filed claim on MCOL (paid £80 costs)
1st May - Natwest acknowledged claim intending to "dispute whole claim" - had until tomorrow to enter Defence
26th May - received cheque for full amount
A BIG thank you to Martin and everyone on this thread/site for your help and support (even if you didn't know you were giving it!!) I reckon there are alot of people reading the threads and feeling very encouraged.
I have a 2nd claim in for my Natwest bank account for £3,100 - they've entered their defence and I've just been transferred from MCOL to my local court, so fingers crossed on that one
Good luck everyone - KEEP AT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If the bank make you an offer of the full amount of your claim and you haven't started court action then you must accept this as the interest is awarded by a court and not the bank. Please read the Reclaim Help Thread regarding Interest.0 -
Have received letter back from Natwest stating they are 'currently considering my claim', 'we will be in a position to respond within 6-7 weeks'. This was received after the 'Threaten to take it to court letter' from Martin's website was sent; Natwest ignored the initial request.
Has anyone else received this response?
If so did you reply asking the claim to be dealt with in a more timely fashion?
Are they bound by any law to deal with the claim within a certain time frame?
Or do i just have to sit back and wait?
Many thanks in anticipation0 -
hi, does anybody know if the charges from being overdrawn in the natwest current account can be claimed back? (thanx not too sure with that 1
