  • hi jonun,
i just cannot believe what they have done to you, i also did the calculations from here as i expect hundreds of other natwest people have, i really would stand my ground with this, and i would telephone the cru manager, wot ever her name is and ask her, funny how they said yesterday you would have a letter no sooner than 10 days.
seen as we are at the same timescale i will expect them to say the same to me then, but i really really don't want to phone them as they just ruin my day the little s**ts:mad:

No is it !!!!!!y like! I rang today i no i said i wouldnt but i thought just once surely i will hear what i want to and as ive been promised my offer letter by today for weeks by various natwest staff members i thought id just ring and see.

Rang and got told this tale.

I have checked the system and you submitted your claim on the 23rd March (thats when they received it) so now its ...... I interrupted at this point and said YEAH ITS 8 WEEKS TODAY!

Well i'll just have a look now to see on our system as we are hoping to give offers out within the 8th week. (Thought to myself someone better get typing my letter pronto and hand deliver it to my house if this is the case) She came back to me and said we are validating claims from the 28th March now on the system - so i said well mine is 5 days before that so surely i should have received something by now. All i got back in response is well i cant tell off the system if an offer has been made but you should be receiving yours anytime soon and probably before the 8th week which is Thursday at the latest!!!!

So i said i am in my 8th week now so your now telling me its in the 9th week she didnt know what to say to this - i tried to really keep my calm as i know they only answer the phones.

I am so sick of this now its been hellish they have added stress to my life and all these lies i have been told is unbelievable.

I am so angry and i really really would like to know what kind of system they are operating by because how come some have been settled sooner when claimed later and why are we all being told different things everytime we ring them.

If steam could come out of my ears it would be doing right now i tell you.

I too am thinking of court action now but i dont want to have to borrow the money to do so - in other words i have to wait and i think they no it!

Called Natwest up this morning and was actually told something a bit different, as they said my claim had actually been validated on May 14th, and to expect a letter with the offer in it by next week. So we shall see if it arrives. They received my first letter 2nd of April. :rotfl:

i cannot understand them, i try and figure it out but get no where, do they go by how you run your account, how many times we contact them.
i cannot believe how much they have messed you around, they even tell people what there offer is on the phone, then tell others they can't do it.
god i feel so sorry for you.
i don't know what to say......

do u mean it was validated on may 14th, as march seems a long long time to wait for a letter. good luck
  • Just sent me first letter off today asking for £3500 inc interest. Looks like it maybe a bit of a rocky one from the looks of some of these posts, but i don't plan on taking any of their crap, they either pay up in the allotted time scale or they will have to settle it in court, starting one month today!! yay!

My court hasn't been allocated yet. I was notified by MCOL that Nastywest have filed a defence. I got a copy of their defence today together with the Cobbetts letter requesting further information and clarification - one of those being details of the charges.
Natwest have HAD those details (as have MCOL, as I sent them the spreadsheet to file with my claim). They are of course just stalling and being intimidatory (or should I say, TRYING to intimidate me) When all this is done, I'm reporting them to the Financial Ombudsman.

    Hi Pam
I've only just got round to registering on this site this morning, however I've followed some of your threads for a while. My claim with Natwest has also just been defended yesterday by the intimidating letter from Cobbetts... we are obviously at the same stage in our claims.

I had previously banked with Natwest, but finally switched accounts back in 2005 after having endless hassle with Natwest for years. My claim with interest and court costs amounts to just over £4,000. I sent off like you with my original claim all paperwork, spreadsheets and photocopies of each statement showing every charge highlighted - I thought my case was watertight after reading threads on this site. It appears now though that Cobbetts have other ideas.
There defence is confusing to say the least, basically saying they are 'embarrassed by the lack of particularity pleaded in the particulars of the claim'. They go onto say that 'The defendant invites the claimant to remedy the above, if they fail to do so within 14 days of the service of defence then the defendant will apply to the court for an order striking out the particulars of the claim'.
Is your defence of a similar wording? If so, do you know what the next step is that you are going to take? I've not had any paperwork from MCOL yet the defence was only lodged yesterday.
Any advice would be gratefully received!

    Many thanks, Jeni

This seems a abit strange as my claim goes back to March and they said today that they are just validating claims from the 28th March - so if you sent yours on the 2nd April then how can they say that

Looks like everyone is getting told what they want to hear!
