As frugalpam said to me in an earlier post, it's not a case of IF you get your money back....it's WHEN!! you WILL get it :j good things come to those who wait ;) or take the bank to court :rotfl: well done to you too for getting a verbal offer, I'm presuming like me, they told you the amount on the phone which is what I got (or should I say "I'm getting"), and it's the full amount claimed
    for you. :T

I am getting frustrated that not only have I had no response to any letters and am plowing on with MCOL but I cannot get through to get any verbal reaction Have tried several time as and today again I was onhold for 27 minutes -timed it. As I was at work I had to put the phone down in the end.
Any tips out there for getting through?

I received my offer from NatWest this morning.
First letter sent on 10th April requesting £1455.17 plus interest.

Received letter from NatWest saying the usual (they were looking into it and would reply within 56 days).

Sent letter on 21st April saying not satisfied with response and would take to court if no reply within 14 days.

It worked, received letter today (dated 26th April), which I am accepting, offering £1455.17 which is the amount less interest.

All my letters were sent via the customer relations email address on an earlier post.

All I can advise is stick to your guns and those deadlines, don't wait the 56 days. It worked for me, easiest money I've ever made :j and the whole process didn't even take a month.

What is the email address? I am having difficulty contacting anyone?

Firstly, never get a puppy younger than your kid!

Secondly, I think I have been dealing with the same snotty nosed woman at Customer Services! Everyone else has been great... well, courteous. I was told last week that my claim had been 'verified' and that I should receive an offer by May 15th latest. The figure quoted was the full amount including interest. Yay, I thought. But the 14 day deadline to begin proceedings was yesterday. Should I wait or file a claim? I see my claim as quite seperate from my complaint against natwest although it does tie in with the way in which my account was handled and the charges that handling incurred. This woman was not prepared to research my complaint per se but kept harping on about the claim.
Anyway, bottom line is I don't have the £120 for court costs (natwest pulled my overdraft) and I am hoping for a letter.

Is this recent stance as a result of the case with Tom Brennan linked?

    Keep the faith anyway, all.

You might well be lucky like Paw, and get an offer letter very soon - I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Your other route would be the Financial Ombudsman - the banks really are wary of the FO, and of course they'd follow up your claim free of charge. Have heard of a lot of successes by going down this route.

    Pam

PS The Natwest woman I spoke to this morning must have graduated from snotty school with honours :rotfl:

    Hi guys

I wonder if anyone can help - i'm in the process of making a claim with natwest for a family member - (i'm making a claim myself with hsbc - but that's on another thread)

The natwest account is an Advantage Gold Account there are a few things on the statements i'm not sure about -

Service fee - can i claim for these ? -
Unarranged borrowing - can i claim for these ?

up until late 2002 these amounts were on the statements seperate - then after that the amounts were lumped together - any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

    Requested statements 19/02/07
1st letter sent requesting charges 16/03/07 no response
2nd letter requesting charges 30/03/07 no response
    Sent email to Customer.relations@natwest.com 12/04/07:

    Dear Sir/Madam

    My Ref: *********
    Acc No: *********

Please accept this correspondence in accordance with my duty under
the Civil Procedure Rules to continue to pursue a settlement without
    the
need to invoke the time of the courts.

Further to my 2 letters dated 16/03/07 & 30/03/07 requesting refund
of charges & our telephone conversation on 04/04/07 regarding the
    settlement
offered by you and accepted by me thus far I have not received payment
    or
any explanation as to why not. I consider this time more than
    sufficient for
a company such as yours, engaged in the business of consumer banking,
    to be
able to process and execute a payment.

Take notice that should I not receive payment of the £4***.**
offered without delay then I reserve the right to issue a claim against
    you
for the amount of £4***.** plus interest pursuant to statute and court
    costs and without further notice.

Finally, should I be forced to litigate I intend to draw the Court's
attention to the fact that you have not made any effort to conclude
    this
matter, in addition I will make a formal complaint to the Law Society,
    the
Financial Ombudsman Service and the Banking Code Standards Board and I
    will
submit this letter to the Court as further evidence of your
    intransigence
with my case despite my attempts at settlement and the settling by your
company of all other similar claims to date.

    Yours faithfully

    received this reply on 19/04/07:

    Dear *** *****

    Thank you for your e-mail.

I am sorry that you have not yet received an offer from us.
    Unfortunately
due to us experiencing larger than usual volumes of correspondence we
    are
    currently behind in our replies.

We are trying to deal with your claim as quickly as possible and I hope
    you
will bear with us for a while longer.

    Stephen Dix
    Customer Relations

Rang a couple of times, 1st: no record on their system, ring back in a few weeks, 2nd: I rang back in a week, verbal offer of full amount. (Then I sent the email) 3rd: rang again following week quoted 2 weeks, 3 days later (yesterday) got the letter offering full amount in full & final settlement of this claim blah blah blah. Posted back, signed, dated & sent recorded delivery same day, I'm not celebrating yet until it's in my account.

Fingers crossed for you, you WILL get there in the end :j

Hiya, definitely claim the unarranged borrowing fee, I didn't claim service fee (just looked at my statements) as it's not a "charge". Good luck!
