NatWest (merged)

Just rang Natwest because I recieved my statement this morning and they've added on another £28 charge because I was £4 over my overdraft between 1st March and 7th. Meh. I couldn't see on my statement where the charge had come in and she said it was between two periods which was why the two charges - yet it didn't show on my statement which annoys me.
The woman I spoke to couldn't do anything, but she said when I got the letter from my ongoing complaint to ring the number on the letter and ask if they would add the current charge onto that. I said I would, and asked her if she could tell me the progress of how it was going. She said a decision had been made and they were offering me £112! The full amount that I've claimed for!
When it comes back I have to sign the letter - ring the number on it and hope that they will add the charge on. Has anyone had any experience of doing this and is it sort of luck of the draw if they agree?0 -
have had a letter today from Halifax which states that they will respond to my concerns no later than the 14 may the letter i sent was threatening court in 14 days do i give them this chance or do i stick to my 14 days and take to court please help
Hello
Only you can decide wether or not to give them more time, it's personal choice, your timescale.0 -
Well my 14 days isnt up until Monday of next week but I thought I would give them a call again before I do my LBA. Was told the offer was put in on 2nd of April and to expect it within 2-3 weeks. I'm thinking maybe they are getting tired of saying 21 days.
Either way I will be sticking to the timescales and sending out the LBA letter next week.

Dont worry, put your branch as the one you are claiming from. Your initial letters will/would have been sent to the correct department. I sent mine to my branch & I know they got to the right place in the end. I haven't heard a dicky bird from them either, carry on with your next step when the time comes.
In the MCOL form you have to put Natwest's head office address (the one at Bishopsgate) - if thats the one you are talking about?
(if not just ignore me!)0 -

Aha! consider my hands slapped, I was told that if you use your branch address it's better if it gets to the bailiff stage, so I presumed branch addresses were fine. I do apologise if I got it wrong, maybe someone can clarify????0 -

I think its because you are claiming from Natwest as an organisation rather than just a particular branch. Thats certainly the advice I ready anyway - have tried to follow everything to the letter as I don't want to lose over a mistake I made!0 -
hello,
i have just recieved, natwests defence by post this morning. a copy of which has been sent to the court. will the court send me the COURT ALLOCATION QUESTIONNAIRE?. is it common for natwest to defend a claim.0 -

Just found this thanks to Rex Mundi .......
The advice we have given before is to use the banks registered address for the court papers. If you have already done this, it's fine. The advice from the courts service when issuing a claim is to always use the registered address of the company you are making a claim against........................
However..............
Because we are talking about major international companies here. You can also use your local branch address for the court claim. The biggest impact the address has, is if your claim gets as far as sending the bailiffs in. They could recover any property from your local branch to cover the amount of any claim. The recent story in the press about bailiffs being sent to the bank involved a local branch.
............looks like we are both correct...phewww, I panicked a bit then, I was gutted with the thought I may have misinformed someone.0 -
hi all, just filled out mcol claim form bet put my branch address as the defendant, is this correct? if not what address do you put in for natwest? and can you edit the form as necessary? thanks0

Hi there, I am new to the forum, having read through guides and posts here, but I am still confused over what to do. I have a student account with Natwest and they charged me £38 last month for bank charge, plus another £10 on Natwest credit card return change and £12 for late payment fee - all because I didn't have enough money in my account at the time for a single credit card payment. I was too stupid having set my payment method as direct debit.
Yes I know this is really a small amount compare to most people here but every penny worth something to me since I am a poor student and I feel it's just not fair that way. I've sent an initial letter to my bank requesting £38 and now 14 calendar has passed I received no reply. I know the £12 late payment fee is below limit but the £10 return charge should be unfair and I wish I could claim all of what is mine. I wonder what I should do now? Give the bank a call or something, because I really have no clue. Maybe the process would be easier if my amount is slightly bigger but this is actually the first time it happens to me:(0
