That's fine also, as long as you've still got a copy of the paperwork. You may need this further on in your claim (if you issue a claim in court). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi there
Opened an account with Natwest in 2000 when I started University (went back as a 'mature' student - at the grand old age of 27!) as they seemed to offer the best student account.
My account was closed in 2004 after I spiralled into debt - £2k overdraft, £5k graduate loan and £2k Natwest credit card plus god knows how much in charges - and was unable to keep up with payments to clear the debt (had an arrangement with the bank).
I'll be the first to admit I handled my account VERY badly - paying for things with cheques etc when I didnt have money in my account, cashing cheques at places like The Money Centre so I had some cash - and have since payed the consequences - my credit rating is zero and I can't get a mortgage.
Anyway - I got back on my feet financially earlier this year and managed to pay off £5k of the £10k debt Natwest had passed on to a debt collection agency. They accepted the payment and have since marked it 'partially satisfied' on my credit report. Unfortunately for me this doesnt mean squat to the banks and I still have to wait for two years until I can apply for a mortgage.
Anyway - have decided to try and claim some money back so sent my inititial letter and £10 cheque off yesterday. I have a feeling it'll be a long and lengthy process as am sure they'll be loathed to pay back money to someone who handled their account so badly!! Haha.
Also want to try and claim my Natwest credit card charges back - can I just check that I need to write to the same address in Edinburgh or is it a different one? I cant remember any of my credit card details so do I just write my full name and DOB and hope for the best?
Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any tips!0 -

It's up to you, but I would just stick to the timetable. Chances are that they will make you go to the next stage anyway. Get ready to issue a claim through the courts. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Still no statments, they still say they have lost original cheque i sent and want another one before they release staments.
I will be sending this on monday but do i still hold them to 40 days from the original letter Nov 24th or from monday when i send new cheque?
Its not my fault they lost the cheque when sending my letter to head office is it?Proud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0 -
So for example im claiming aginst the evil that is natwest bank for a grand total of £962 the first letter detailing the charges wheres and whenfores has been sent. I have recieved a reply pretty sharpish to be honest (suprisingly) and was wondering if unsuccessful, how much is it gonna cost me to drag it through the court system and how easy it is to do this. Sorry for dragging this on a bit grateful for any replies.0

My statments arrived this morning!! And i didnt have to sent the 2nd cheque!!
I have totaled that they owe me £1021.
This is if i can claim paid referal fees (which someone has told me i can) and my default fee back of £30.
Is this right that i can claim these 2 types of charges back?
ThanksProud to be DEBT FREE AT LAST0
