I think I've got what your saying!!

Start your claim for your current account now, as you have complete information for that.

Only start the claim for your credit cards when you have ALL the information.

They are allowed 40 days to come up with your information by law. But it can't harm to chase up with a letter or phonecall when it gets near the 40 days.

    Good luck.....

You can claim on returned cheque/so's/dd's but not the monthly charge to hold an Advantage Gold account (of which I believe it £12). So your monthly 'account' charge - you need to take off £12. hope that helps

    Hi parrot

You need to seperate and deduct your Advantage Gold fees from other charges. Most charges with NatWest are described simply, but AdGold fees are combined with unauthourised overdraft fees on your statement. They will be shown on your statement as follows:

    CHARGES . . . 01JAN A/C 23456789 . . . £40.00

So, £28 of these charges are for an unauthourised overdraft and £12 is for AdGold. You must deduct the AdGold element.

There have been various fees for AdGold over the years, somewhere in this thread someone has listed what they are (if I find it i'll post a link to it!)

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

    The advantage gold fees were as follows;
    • From October 2002 The Advantage Gold fee was £6
    • In September 2003 it was increased to £9
    • In July 2005 it was increased to £10
    • In June 2006 it was increased to £12.

    Hope this helps

    hi all
hope i posted in the right place. i was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this please.
i had an o/draft with natwest which they requested i change to a loan with them in order to repay it. i agreed and all was fine untill i had problems due to a close family bereavment. the loan was paid each month by s/o which i was unable to cancel or ammend.hence charges went up and up and they refused lower payments for a time untill i was stable again.i was told it was all or nothing and if i wanted to reduce my payments on the loan i would have to wait till it got to the collection stage.what was i to do - one month almost half my tax credits went in charges causing me great difficultys that month not to mention the stress and worry. i opened a new account elsewhere to protect my income and waited.
i eventually heard from them and arranged a reduced repayment plan which i have stuck to.
if i am succesful in my claim for repayment of my bank charges can i ask for a cheque (i have only sent 1st letter as i had statements already) or can they keep it to pay off the loan account i have the repayment arrangment on
i would be very glad of any advice on this
    thanks

Question - the original overdraft they got you to pay off with a loan - what proportion of that would have been made up of unlawful bank charges ?

And don't forget you can reclaim charges incurred on the loan too - late payment charges etc.

You are claiming to get in the position you would have been in had they not taken the charges...so if you can show it forced you to get the loan...then you should be able to get at least the interest paid on the loan back.
