what have people received from Natwest ?
    Statements or lists of charges?

I received all statements. The next letter from them asked me to identify all the charges from those statements.

.. a stalling tactic, for sure.

I have recieved the following letter today from nat west-

    Dear.....
I write to you with regards to your recent letter requesting a complete list of transactions and charges applied to your account under the data protection act 1998.

To recieve a complete list of transactions and charges we can only send you a copy of your bank statments.

If you would like a copy of your bank statements i will be happy to arrange this and they will be sent out directly. The fee for this will be £5.00

I would be gratful if you could forward a cheque made payable to Natwest.

If you have any problems please do not hesitate to contact me at above address.

    Your sincerely

So i phoned them to be told they didnt recieve the £10 cheque that was enclosed.
I sent it recorded delivery to my local branch, so i then phoned them and asked why they hadnt forward my cheque onto Edinburgh where the letter had been sent, they have told me that it would have been sent on and must have got lost, so i should cancel the cheque and send another!!!!!!!

The lady at Retail Regulatory risk dept at Edinburgh, told me she would order my statments today and i will recieve them within 5 working days!!! but i need to send another cheque for £5,

What do i do know wait the 5 working day and see if they arrive??
I sent my original letter on the 24th Nov?
    Help please

The same thing happened to me - i sent a postal order amounting to £10 i received the same letter as above so i have had to send a further £5 and reclaim the £10 for the original postal order from royal mail.

I requested statements for x3 accounts one of which was closed down 12 months ago - they only sent me statements for the live and open accounts! i am having a real battle getting the statements for the old account.

    Good luck

So where do we stand on the 40 day limit if we have to send more money?
Do we still go with the orginal date when we sent the letter?

Received my allocation hearing date from the court this morning on my Natwest claim for £14,250. 14th Feb 2007. So I've got to wait another 9 weeks until I know which track it will be allocated to. Basically, I won't be seeing any money until at least then, which is pathetic since my claim started in June.

Feel like I'm banging my head against a wall with this, it's dragging out longer than anything I've ever experienced, and it's really annoying me.

i really don't know, as technically they have responded so feel it could be difficult to report them for being in breach - of course that is exactly what i am threatening them with! they tried to tell me yesterday that they only keep details on old account for 12 months! i told them that under the data protection act they had to keep records for 6 years, and they were in breach which i would report them for! they soon back tracked and now claim to be looking into my "history". arrrhhhhh!
  • hi all,

i have x2 accounts with natwest one of them as charges on it the other is "clean" how likely is that Natwest will close both accounts if i pursue the charges on one account?

It's unlikely that the other account would be closed if it's been operated within the terms and conditions. You can't really quantify the risk on an individual basis.
  • Hi,

I am currently claiming charges on two accounts i hold at NatWest. I have just recieved a letter back stating that one will be refunded in full, goodey.

    HOWEVER,
it says on it that this is FULL AND FINAL SETTLEMENT OF ALL CLAIMS YOU MAY HAVE RELATING TO OUR CHARGES.

Does this mean that if i accept this then i have ruined my chances for the other one as i have signed a document saying i wont claim again, or because they are two different cases this wont happen.

Does this mean that i can no longer claim if they apply charges?

    Thank You for your time
