I've just phoned the freephone number 0800 015 4212 (option 1) and spoke to someone, basically said did they want to offer me my money back rather than waiting any longer..he asked how much I was claiming and then came back and said that an offer letter was in the post.

It's all very odd...when I asked when the letter was sent out he said 29th January but it's taking 3/4 weeks to get them sent out? He could not even tell me how much the offer was for??

anyone else had this? I will await my letter of offer...:T

Well They Said They Sent My Offer Letter On The 12th When I Spoke To Them Yesterday, I Got The Letter Today And Its Dated The 15th, Its Now The 24th!!

I Think They Are just Trying To Fob You Off, You Will More Than Likely Get Your Letter In The Next Few Days Dated Yesterday Or Well after The 29th Of January!!

I Got My £38 Back :D Not Much But Every Little Helps...Still Waiting For HSBC To Get Back To Me - Thats The Biggie :j x
  • Reading this forum has been invaluable in giving me the information I needed to reclaim my bank charges from NatWest, so having just had a rapid successful claim I thought I would join the forum and share my method.

I was lucky enough to have complete statements for the last six years, so it was fairly easy to find the total to reclaim, in my case £710. I calculated the interest on the charges (using the calculator on the 'Reclaim Bank Charges' page) bringing the total to £864. I sent the letter on Friday 16th Feb 2007 and yesterday (Friday 23rd Feb) received a reply and an offer of a complete refund of my charges - £710 - but no interest. As I have a hefty overdraft with NatWest I don't think it will be worthwile pursuing the interest charges as even with the charges and interest refunded I would have problems clearing my overdraft.

There follow some details of how I made my claim - if you follow my lead you might also get a fast victory.

1 Used the letter from the BBC Website with some slight adjustments to ask for the interest and mention that the courts would award this if I had to take legal action.

2 Enclosed a complete list of charges with date, bank statement page number, reason for charge, amount charged and interest calculated.

    3. Scanned and made colour printouts of all the statement pages with charges marked - photocopies with marker pen highlights would be just as good.

    4. Made it clear in the letter that I had looked into taking court action through the County Court and to prove this I quoted the court costs - I had to register with https://www.moneyclaim.gov.uk and go through the motions of making a claim to get this figure, but obviously didn't actually submit the claim! Also mentioned that costs for the time taken for me to prepare my case would also be chargable.

I didn't mention it in my letter but it might also be worthwhile that loss of earnings for the time taken to attend court may be claimed for as well - I believe the law allows for reasonable costs to be claimed for a case.

    5. Gave the 14 day deadline from receipt of letter for response before taking court action.

    6. I didn't send the letter to my own branch but by recorded delivery to:Customer Relations, Ground Floor, National Westminster House, 225 Shenley Road, Borehamwood WD6 1TE. This also shows Nat West that you are 'clued up' and have researched information about making a reclaim.

Hope this is helpful to all you NatWest reclaimers out there - Good Luck!!

  • Sorry if this has been covered before. I've received statements today from NatWest going back to November 2001, I requested 6 years worth 2 weeks ago so therefore there's 8-9 month's worth missing. Is this standard with NatWest? Will I receive the others from another branch in the next few days or do they need a call on Monday to remind them? I'm tempted to crack on, but as 6 years ago was my 'bad' period as opposed to now, I'm worried they're covering up alot of charges. The statements came from Southampton which is not my local branch, and not therefore not the branch I made the request to.

    Cheers

Natwest sent mine out in two batches. They have 40 days to send them from when you sent the letter. It wont harm to give them a ring on monday and say "oi where are the other six months". Good luck

  • Hi all

I received a cheque for full and final settlement yesterday including interest and court costs. It took 5 months to get this far but am pleased that I have done it!
Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.

Wait for the offer to arrive which should be before Friday.
