desperado1 wrote:Hi just a very quick question before reclaiming bank charges.
Has anyone had to actually go to court, as we will be trying to reclaim about £8000 of Natwest (various accounts) what worries me as it is a large amount they may actually take it all the way court.
Thank you
Hi,
If they are for various different accounts I would claim for them seperately.
Don't think anyone has actually been to court yet from what I have read
Good luck0 -
Hiya i have just had a phone call from the natwest saying that an offer is in the post . The deadline was up on tuesday for the first of the claims letters , but when i phoned them they had not recieved our letter so aggreed to give them a couple more days to have a look at our claim .
Im a bit tense now because they wouldnt tell me how much the offer was for , and that we will have to wait for the letter . Has this happened to anyone else ? and if so did you get an offer of the full amount or not ?
Many Thanks all

First letter sent to NatWest 2 weeks ago yesterday. Gave them a call on Tuesday to ask if my letter had been acknowledged. I spoke to a rather snotty CA who barked at me that I had no right to impose a time limit upon them and then put me on hold while I was still speaking. She came back to the phone and told me that a letter had been sent to me in the post on Friday, "an offer letter" she called it, offering me the whole amount I had claimed for. No letter received as yet, so just called CS again to query where the letter is as it has now been 6 days since posting. Was informed that no letter has been sent, my claim has not even been looked at due to the 8 week wait list at the moment.
Why have NatWest told me bare-faced lies?? This is completely unacceptable!
Am wondering wether to carry on with the second letter now. Is it worthwhile if the wait time is 8 weeks?
I think I will be switching all my accounts after todays experience, very annoyed.:mad:0 -

outrageous natwest!
i tried to claim my charges in may 06, they refused to budge. i then sent away for my 6 years worth of statements, which received and so yesterday after seeing watchdog on monday i totalled my charges to just short of £3000, inc interest (cheers martin for that calculator)
2 questions:
1) should i claim for the whole amount, or do i have to deduct the £12 per charge (i have 91 charges over the 6 years) so 91 x £12, that totals £1200 ish. should i deduct this amount?
2) i just phoned the F.O.S and they are now sending a letter on my behalf asking for the full amount inc interest. i have i !!!!!!ed it all up now that they are writing to them asking for the whole amount?

I sent the initial letter to Natwest back in the summer and got the standard 'bog-off' letter back. I didn't bother taking it further at the time. I'm wondering if it's worth trying again, but whether to start from the beginning again? FYI my charges come to about £250 and I'm overdrawn with this account. I'm not in a postion to attend court if it goes that far. I also have poor credit, so getting another account could be tricky.0

No you haven't screwed it all up. Who says that £12 is the true amount it costs the banks? The banks are not willing to let anyone know how much it actually costs them, so when a claim does go to court and the banks don't show up the judge has no option but to award the full amount.
Good on you for sticking with it, hope it all goes well,
