Just got my payslip and there is a whopping £2K bonus in there (after tax!)
Whoo hoo!! Please don't hate me. Have been skint for so long, am at a loss as to what i should actually do with it. All i know is that my little one will have a fab christmas now and January will not look as bleak as it usually does.

I don't hate you, you can be my best friend! Seriously what a fab bonus & sounds as though you're gonna have an amazing xmas!

I don't get anything. Last year my husband got a pack (4 cans) of lager and a tin of Quality Street from his work.

Only get Christmas Day and Boxing Day off too.

Hey - I am a sole emplyee so work on the office on my own. Perhaps we could have a virtual Christmas party on here! Pick a date and time (maybe something like 12noon on 20th December) and lets all sit in our offices / places of work with a blower, Christmas hat, glass of whatever we fancy and a mince pie lol!

    sounds fun hehe! :rotfl:

Where I worked 20 years ago we got 2% of annual salary as a Xmas Bonus. We also got a performance related annual bonus in March. Where I work now they used to give us a diary but they've even stopped that now. If we want holiday over Christmas it has to come out of our annual allowance (except for the bank holidays). The only thing they give us these days is about £12 each towards a meal, but if you don't go on the meal you get nothing.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

I Work for the NHS, no bonus for Christmas. Being community based, I can have the bank holidays off though - they come out of my annual leave allowance. Those who are hospital based are not so lucky as obviously wards and labs etc. have to be staffed 24/7.

OH gets no bonus. They can got to the canteen and have xmas lunch in works time though, but only if they pay for the meal themselves!

He gets xmas day, boxing day and new years day off - anything else would have to be annual leave.

Any of you with more generous employers wanna swap with him?

No bonus, no time off. But I guess that's because I'm a full time mum... So I do get to spend all of christmas with my family, which is very nice. My husband gets no bonus as such, but he gets to pick £30 of food from the stock. Not much though, when it's from the stock of a premium foods company with severely hiked up prices... and time off? Yes he does get time off for x-mas, but that's only because the firm shuts down over x-mas, and it has to come out of his annual leave. And this year, they've threatened to take the staff (my dh and two other blokes) to the panto...

We get a christmas party (was touch and go whether we'd have to pay for it!) but still have to pay for the wine or any other drinks...

Uhmmmm that's it... Not even a christmas card...

We get the bank holidays off tho, but we're only supposed to allow 3 people to be off over the holidays on the other days... apparently my hand slipped when signing christmas leave and it seems I have accidently agreed to 6 people's holiday... fancy that... *attempts an innocent look*

DH gets an annual pay review to fall into Decembers paypacket - 4.5% last year, they then get a christmas bonus dependant on profit for the year - last year was £1k - profits are up this year so fingers crossed. They also get a Xmas party - this year in a castle with dinner dance/free bar and transport (but no partners invited so we won't be going).

I think christmas bonuses that I've had in the past have ranged from £10 to £100 - this year though I get nothing as I'm self employed.
