they are just trying to delay. Sent it again, but with a brief lette telling them that you've already sent it and any deadlines that you gave them in your last letter still stand.

  • i just read that you can download these statements online?
if thats the case i'll put them into excel and search for keywords

Can anyone tell me what the description would be, i'm guessing the keyword "charge" is a good one to look for? anything else?
  • There is an easier way to do this but only if you use HSBC online banking and are prepared to print each statement to a TXT file. View each statement (they should go back 6 years on HSBC online banking) and then print to a generic text printer. Save each statement and then you can do a word filter query for "unauthorised" "charge" etc on all the statement text files in the directory, that way you don't miss anything.
If you do decide to go through the statements don't do it all at once. Do a year at a time, record the total then have a break. If you do all 6 years at once, and you have a huge stack of statements you might well miss an entry.

    you beat me too it!!

    cheers
  • Have a look through a couple of statements where you know you've been charged and then apply a word filter in Excel for that :)
I would probably wildcard the filter as *charg*.
I'm about to do this for a friend so i'll keep you updated.

Agreed, if you've already sent the charges in a clear format with Date, Charge Name and Amount plus a total, you've provided the information. You could send the same info again or tell them where to go.

    HIYA

AS I UNDERSTAND IT, AND OPEN TO CORRECTION, YOU CAN CLAIM THE CHARGES FOR GOING OVER YOUR OVERDRAFT BUT YOU CANNOT CLAIM THE INTEREST THE BANK CHARGED YOU FOR GOING OVER....

Thanks paul1e, my claim is 100% overdraft charges
you go around in circles reading every post on here that you get all confused. doesn't help that my head spinning from flu and 2 kids down with it too!!!
So if and when hsbc does come back to me with an offer they may have knocked off the interest I tried to claim? Anything is better than nothing.

2 weeks up tomorrow but have had the usual "we are looking at your claim" so do we wait another week or wot??:confused::confused:
  • Thanks for quick reply, will skip court letter and just repeat first letter with one week turnaround.

It only took me an hour to go through six years of NW statements.

  • The situation so far!

    1) Requested summary of charges
    2) Received statements
    3) Sent off first letter claiming £658 charges + £152.68 interest
    4) Received letter saying they are 'looking into the matter'

Now the 14 days is up and I have not received an offer - point 4) does not constitue a satisfactory response! My question is, what do I put in Martins next template letter under 'name of court'? How do I find out what my local court is? Or can I use MCOL? What are the parameters that permit you to use MCOL instead of actually physically going to court?

    Many thanks
  • As regards what can and can't be claimed to the users above, please see the link in my signature Reclaim Help Thread.

As regards "what court" the question is also answered in that thread along with a link to find your local court.

MoneyClaim online is the next step if you decide to take action, please read Martin's article regarding that.
