  • Wow. I just had a quick browse through my statements JUST FOR 2006, and i totalled up £825 in OD charges, excess OD charges, foreign bank drafts and foreign cheque handling fees! FOR ONE YEAR!.

Guess i better get up in the attic and go through the rest.

This site could be helping me get some serious cash back. Thank you.
  • Check post 4 in the Reclaim Help Thread in my signature for what you can and can't claim. You can't claim for foreign bank drafts and cheque handling.

We sent our claim dated the 7th Feb and got a reply last friday saying they were looking into our claim. Is this just a stalling tactic?
Also we are claiming £680 including interest but this for the charges for going over our overdraft, but reading previous threads we can't do this, is this true?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

    HIYA

AS I UNDERSTAND IT, AND OPEN TO CORRECTION, YOU CAN CLAIM THE CHARGES FOR GOING OVER YOUR OVERDRAFT BUT YOU CANNOT CLAIM THE INTEREST THE BANK CHARGED YOU FOR GOING OVER....

Hi! Do I send claims against an HSBC bank account and HSBC Credit Card to the same address?

    Thanks!
  • I have a couple of things on my statements which i am not sure of.

    1) 'total charges'. i have several references to 'total charges' on my statements. They vary monthly from £18 to £100. Are these valid charges, or sneak charges?

    2) I often get a seperate sheet with my statement listing 'charges and interest'. The OD charge listed on there is not found in the corresponding statement, or sometimes an OD charge that IS listed in the statement does not show on the seperate sheet. So i am not sure if all the charges i have found are duplicates or not.
  • Apologies for the following questions - I'm sure they've been asked before. I've had a good look around the forum, but it's so bloody big that I couldn't find the answers.

    1. Like one or two arond here, I'm about to embark on reclaiming my charges. I'm with HSBC, so where do I send my first letter to?
2 Is registered post really necessary?
    3. And is opening another account elsewhere necessary at this stage? I've got a £3,500 O/D with HSBC and, to be honest, it's a bit of a lifesaver at the moment.

    Hope you can help. Cheers.
  • I'll put your thread into the HSBC thread in a minute.

You'll find the address for HSBC in the Reclaim Help Thread link in my signature but your first letter with your list of charges can go to your local branch.

Either the address in the Reclaim Help thread or your local branch.

Yes, or you risk resending letters and losing track of dates.

You need to make plans in case the bank close your account. Some banks have now issued notice as soon as a claim has started.
  • Following my post on 15/2/07 - HSBC pays up! I mentioned that we were still waiting for the monies to credit our account, up to press we are still waiting!!!

Their offer letter did state please allow 7 working days for the amount to credit your account, or if you do not reply within 10 working days we will assume you do not want to take up the offer.

We ensured that the letter was returned by recorded delivery and waited, we then checked it has been signed for, which it had on 8/2/07. After checking the account yesterday to find no credit, we than followed up with a phone call to the bank to find out what was going on and that the 7 working days was up on 16/2/07 and now they have also revoked a direct debit. They apologised and stated that it should have been credited on Friday but we will ensure that it happens Tues AM. (Today) they also stated that would be no charge for the direct debit!! We are still waiting!! watch this space!!!

    Is anyone else having problems?:confused::confused:
