    Morning all

I bank with HSBC and am looking to commence claiming for my charges. I was wondering how it might be possible to research my statements from the last 6 years online.

I have had a look and it seems that it would take forever to look at every monthly statement for the last 6 years. Has anyone any tips on how this can be done in a less time consuming manner.

It is not that I am not committed, it is just that I am work and cannot really spend hours looking at statements from 2001.

Thanks all, keep up the good work ya'll

We researched my wifes charges via her online statements, it didn't take too long to be honest.

We probably spent half an hour going through all six years statements, its probably taken another half an hour to write the first two letters so if (when) we get her money back that will work out at an impressive hourly rate!
  • I am pretty sure my online statements only go back a couple of months ...

But I do know you can request the 6 year's worth of statements from the bank, at a charge of £10.

I am going to do that and get this moving!
  • Hi everyone:hello:

I have some good news :j

My total claim was £2020.43 including 422.43 in interest. last friday I received an offer of £1409.00. This didn't include any interest and also £90 of charges were also taken off as HSBC claimed that they had already been refunded (I had taken the £90 of charges off prior to making the claim - they were wrong! ).

I was very tempted to take the offer as it worked out as 88% of the amount of my actual charges excluding interest.

However, I finally decide to push for a higher amount and accepted this offer as "partial payment" but "... as this whole matter has not been settled in a satisfactory manner within the timescales set out, I have no option but to issue a court claim for the return of these charges. I will be claiming £1598.00 for charges, £422.43 for interest and £120 for court fees."

    Here's the clincher; :D

"However, I am mindful of time management issues that are involved for such a claim. For those reasons alone and without prejudice whatsoever I am prepared to accept a refund of £1818.43. If you wish to accept this offer please notify me in writing within 7 days. If I do not hear from you within this time frame I will take it you have declined this offer and I will commence legal proceedings."

I calculated that the cost of court fees and the time involved to get the full amount was not worth the extra £100 or so.

So 7 days are due today and I hadn't heard a thing. I phoned up as I had also issued a complaint about one of the advisers and used this as a pretex to speak to the Service Quality Team. Apparently an offer of £1690.44p is being made and is in the post today.

I will await til Monday and if not I will go to court. However if it is true then I get all my charges and some of the some of the interest back without a court case. :j :j I won't be posting on the "Success board" until I get the written offer.

    I'll keep you all informed.

Hi, This has possibly been asked, but I couldn;t find an answer!! Anyway I have just received a letter concerning my over-charges from HSBC. THey say they are investigating the matter.

i presume this is just a delay, and that I should shoot off the second letter template from here?

    Cheers :)
  • What did they write asking you for? If its a list of your charges, send it.

    Yes wood1e

100% right! Stick to your timescales don't let them set the agenda otherwise you could be waiting quite a bit. The letter they sent is a standard one. In my case, HSBC have been very accurate in responding to every letter I sent within the deadlines I sent them - other than my last one (see above).

I guess they're getting quite busy now! :D

  • My second letter (letter three - i didnt bother with the first one as i looked the charges up on the online system) will shortly be in the post. Recieved the standard "we're looking into it" from HSBC yesterday - as it is a clear delaying tactic im going for it with the threat immediately.

As i was careful not to exceed my overdraft last month, mindful of the forthcoming 'battle' i saved myself another bout of £125.00 excess overdraft fees. However, since they recieved my first claim letter an 'Overdraft Fee' has suddenly appeared on my account, which means that it's not free anymore. Looks like they want their pound of flesh, but i'll be adding that to the total!

Already sorted having my next months wages paid into another account, so we'll see how HSBC behave when the realize they cant demand me repay the overdraft immediately.

I sent them the 14day letter with a full breakdown of charges on the 22nd jan to the leeds address. i also emailed and faxed it.

The 14 days came and went so before sending the LBA i called them, they said the matter would be dealt with within 7 days. that meaning i was actually giving them 21 days from the first letter being sent. i held on to the LBA.

Today was the 21 day deadline and still no letter so i called them again threatening court action, they then went on to tell me a letter is in the post offering me £1900, i was asking for £2200.

    I 'm 99% sure i will take the offer.

Stay with it people, and do not hesitate to pester them with phone calls.

    Good luck
