    Hi Rex,

Problem is HSBC don't actually detail what the charges are for on the statements, they're all listed as DR - Notified Fees/Charges. The list I sent was the date and amount of each charge, decided there was no point with the above description because they're all the same!

With your next letter. Send them a list of charges (like mine) but put down what it says on your statement for each one, even if they are all the same.

  • Hi, I stated Small Claim Court proceedings with HSBC in Deember and claimed for approx £1350, they disputed the whole amount. Today I received a letter from them offering me £894. Please can anybody offer me some advice as my family think I should take the offer but they are short by £450 which is a lot of money to me. My gut instinct is saying reject it but it then may go all the way to court and I lose
Your help is much appreciated :o

This is a low offer. I would not accept this now you have started a court claim. You should hold out for the full amount+interest+court fee.

HSBC have not taken one single case all the way to a hearing. The chances of you being the first are tiny. They make lower offers because a lot of people are nervous about court. For those that hold out, and refuse lower offers. They are getting back the whole amount of their claim.

Just be strong. You have an excellent chance (99.9%) to get all your charges back.

  • Thank you so much, that is what I wanted to hear. I just to stay strong for a little longer (it's so nerve wrenching though!).
  • Just out of interest, in the letter HSBC solicitors has sent me, they have asked that it remain strictly confidential that they have offered me £894, when I return the slip saying I decline their offer and a letter stating the reasons why, should I tell them I have been approached by The Tonight with Trevor Macdonald show?

This sounds like it may be a preliminary hearing to let the judge decide how best to continue your claim, or for him to explain what he is doing. Phone the court, give them your case number and ask them the status of your claim. They can explain to you what is happening. DO NOT phone or speak to the banks solicitors about this. Your confusion will only give them ammo to be harder on you.

I would be amazed if HSBC go to court to defend these charges. They have not done so in one single case yet (out of 1000s of claims).

  • Hi all,

i sent my first letter to HSBC 2 weeks ago tomorrow, i havent received a response at all! I sent it recorded but royal mail havent got the signature for some reason! However it was confirmed as delivered.

I sent it to 8 canada square and now im worried this may be wrong?

Do i send it again or do i just go to step 2!

Also, since i sent the letter the bank has charged me a further 75 quid! are they taking the p155!????

Im so annoyed, if they stop charging me i wouldnt be going over my limit, worst thing is i just got a healthy pay rise and it wont make a damn bit of difference cos im always getting charged arghhghghghg.

    Please someone advise!
