ghjones77 wrote:Having written to the bank and received all my bank statements (along with my original £10 I sent), I'm now at the stage of totalling up all charges on my account. However I'm a little confused as to whether I should just be asking for 'charges' made and the 'interest' charged. This month I have written on my statement:
notified fees/charges to 09jan2007 = £150
interest to 09jan2007 = £12.83
Can I ask to claim back both of these?
You can't claim back interest you have paid for going overdrawn. Have a read of this thread.

You can add in charges up to the court stage, after that its a new claim.0 -

HSBC now have until Monday 12th before I take things further. I'm claiming just over £700 (including interest).
I'll keep the forum updated on my progress
This evening I started court action against HSBC through Money Claim Online. I had given HSBC until today and have not received a response - so took AdamB and SonnyCash's advice and stuck to my timescale. Just waiting to see what happens next. 14 days are up on 26th. We'll see! :eek:0 -
I got the rest of the 'microfiched' statements today, which I didn't expect.
Totalling it all up, the charges came to £1256 (£1391.16 with interest) which made my eyes bug out! All those 32s, 30s, 25s and 20s all add up! Once I got charged £120 in one day! I'm better with my money now thankfully.
Tomorrow I'll send out my demanding letter :money:
Here's my timescale of events so far:
19th Jan - sent off letter asking for statements
3rd Feb - got 14 months worth of statements
12th Feb - rest of the microfiched statments (5 years worth) arrived0 -

I'm in the process of trying to get charges back from HSBC.
They defended my claim and I've returned the allocation questionnaire to the court. The deadline for the return was 31 Jan and I sent it back well before then.
I'm a bit concerned because I've heard nothing, from either the court or HSBC. Am I right to be concerned or does it normally take so long?
Thanks,
Clare

The court is probably snowed under with claims. Give the court a ring, tell them your case number and they can tell you what stage your claim is at now.How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I've just recieved a third offer letter from my bank. By the way I've already been paid out. All the letters have been identical and refer to my initial claim. Has anyone else experienced this? Have you signed them and sent them back?......0

wednesday1867 wrote:I sent my letter requesting my statements to my local branch, will this or what kind of affect will this have on the 40 days time limit? If i dont hear anything do i send the second letter to the address on here or back to my local branch?
It will presumably mean a few days while the branch pass the letter on to the DPA department and the 40 days starts from the time the bank is assumed to receive it, however that would mean when your branch received the letter.
As they have 40 days to supply the information there is no "second" letter but you can phone them and ask if you think the information will not be back within the 40 days.0 -
