I have sent the 1st letter to HSBC back in early December and I received my bank statements.
I sent the 2nd letter on 01/01/07 demanding my £1452 back but this letter was completely ignored and I have heard nothing back.
I then wrote a 3rd letter stating they have 7 days to reply on 19/01/01 and delivered it to my banks letter box in person.
I have still yet to have a response to my 2nd or 3rd letters... It has been over the 7 days I gave them should I proceed with the court action or wait a little longer??
It seems other people heard back from HSBC pretty quickly but I havn`t!
no stick to your time table proceed with court action they dont seem to be bothered about u so waken them up thats wat i did i got no responce either but stuck to my time table as advised on this thread and i won £1346 so keep going and good luck

If the payments are up to date on the loan, you should be fine. It's covered under a seperate agreement.

See the article for best current accounts, you ca go for a basic account which requires no regular payments but provides no credit facilities.

    Hello,

    Great site, very helpful.

I'm claiming charges of roughly £1400, plus £500 interest. Have received statements and sent off my claim.

I'm interested to know how well people have got on when claiming interest. Are most people doing it? The general view seems to be that HSBC will offer 85% - presumably this is 85% of the charges, and not the total that includes interest?

I'm sure I sound greedy but I'd probably sooner head to court than accept an offer of 1200 from a 1900 claim.

HOWEVER, I'm interested to know whether HSBC puts up a defence for these charges+interest claims. I'm aware that HSBC rarely wins these cases - but, when it does, what are the circumstances that are making the customer lose? If I had an idea of this, I'd be better placed to decide whether to proceed to court or not.

    Thanks in advance!

Generally you don't claim interest until the court stage although some have used it as a 'bargaining' tool.

If you want the full amount and they won't pay up, you will need to file a claim. HSBC have often put up a defence, but to my knowledge have never actually gone to court. They have paid up before the court date.

Hi, anyone got past AQ stage with HSBC - I sent mine back 16th Jan and then last week I had a letter from the courts saying that HSBC had until 27th Jan to submit defence/allocation questionnaire, not heard anything else from either the court or sols for HSBC, what next getting fed up of waiting on DG sols to pull their finger out? I also had a letter from DG just before i sent my AQ back asking for details of charges which I faxed to them but again not heard a dickie bird.
Remember ....its not a bargain unless you need it :D
  • Hi,

Need some advice from other people claiming from HSBC. I sent the first letter asking for the money back and used Martin's letter from the site giving them 14 days to respond. Anway it's now day 16 and no response. I called HSBC yesterday and ended up speaking to the complaints dept. I was told that they had received the letter (I knew this anyway as i sent it via Royal Mail - "To be signed for") and that they were looking into it - She also said it could take 8 WEEKS! So anyway today i have sent the letter about court action. Hope this was right. Has anyone else had the same thing or can you give any advice of what to do?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Guys,
Well i would just like to say thank you to you all for your threads as they have been invaluable to me. I added up my totals for the past 6 years and just over £4000 in bank charges. I sent a letter asking for them back using the template and told they will be looking into it. I have just logged on for internet banking and surprise surprise i have £620 extra in my account. I will take this as a good will gesture but still keep at them for the rest. Will make a donation to the group.
    thanks again

You have done the right thing stick to your timescales and follow the advice of this site and you should be fine.

Do not allow HSBC to dictate the time scales.

Good luck with your claim (however not such good luck at Hillsborough on Saturday)
