Hi Guys
Just sent my initial letters and cheques off for information from HSBC for a current Account, loan account and Credit Card.
I've also sent the same to Barclaycard.
Can anyone give me advice and tales of their experience of Barclaycard or HSBC so I know what to look out for etc.

Hi
I sent my first letter asking for £628 on 19 December. I had a 'we're investigating' response on 2 January.
On 11 Jan I sent the 'I'm taking you to court' letter with interest added .
Today I've received a letter dated 12 Jan which refers to the original letter and offers me £534 - this is £94 less than my claim
What do people think?
I just went through my old statements again as the offer letter states that this is for all charges up to 30th November. I found corrections to charges from 2001 (easier to see on the paper copies than the online set I used to calculate the charges), so I think the missing £94 might be the amount repaid. I couldn't find the full amount, but it's close enough to my original claim for me to be happy to accept it.Official DFW Nerd Club member 216 - Proud to be dealing with my debts

I AM NEW HERE ONLY JUST PLUCKED UP THE COURAGE TO JOIN AND POST.
i just have some questions that im sure have been answered previously but i cant find them so sorry in advance if you are all repeating yourselves.
here is my story :
i have a single a/c with abbey and a joint a/c with my partner also with abbey. and my partner has a single a/c with abbey too.
so 3 a/c in total. we had overdrafts on all 3 a/c and were up to the overdraft every mth. also because of the charges imposed by d/d failing and cheques bouncing etc we got ourselves into a pickle. we stopped using the a/c(s) and asked a debt management company to arrange a payment plan to help us pay back balance owing(due to overdraft and charges) we are 1 yr into this plan.
we are about to ask for our charges back
so basically questions are :
1) do i need to send off £10 per a/c
Read this thread
2)can i still ask for charges when im on a payment plan with a debt management company.
Read this thread..
3) has anyone been took to court and had to go to court to get charges
back?
Yes but not many
4) what are my chances of getting charges back estimating about £3000 on each account we held with them.
The Success stories are in this thread
thanks once again in advance for any responses

I have started the reclaiming process with HSBC. I have now received my second letter stating
Thank you for your letter ...... I am looking into matters you have raised and will contact you with a full response as soon as I have completed my investigations.
Any suggestions on what to do next? Should I start with the threat of court action on the 14th day as per first letter?
Quick tip for those starting the process, I printed all of my statements off from my online banking, highlighted the charges and sent them off. I received a letter back asking me to breakdown the charges in the following format, date, charge description and amount charged. I did this on an Excel speadsheet. May save you a bit of time to do this as well as sending the statements, to stop them stalling.0 -
