I've now also received a letter from Colin Langdale. Hopefully he'll just give me my money. How long does it take to go from the confirmation letter to offer?

I've also received a letter from Colin Langdale saying he's "looking into the matters I have raised and will contact me with a full response as soon as I have completed my investigation" following my request that HSBC repay about £1200 in charges.

My letter is dated 3rd Jan so I'll let you know if I receive anything else. What do you think would be a reasonable length of time to wait for a further response?

On another note, if I were Colin Langdale one of the first things I'd be doing would be to log onto this website and check out the discussion to find out what we're talking about, trying to keep one step ahead of us - do you think the banks are doing that?

Hi, just a quick update on mine. Very similar to previous couple it looks like HSBC are trying to drag it out as long as possible. I have sent my AQ back today so its just a case of wait n see!! Let you all know if a get an offer. Its funny how everyone thinks they are gonna be the "test case" me too!!!

Hi again, just had a thought. There seems to be a lot of us of AQ stage and getting a bit jittery about actually going to court but where are they going to get all the solicitors to go up and down the country to defend all these claims in court??!!

  • hi! i got my confirmation from the court that hsbc have acknowledged my claims today.. in the copy they sent me, they have put a cross in the box that they intend to defend the claim *sob* lol
I was wondering.. have been reading here and there about these allocation questionaires people seem to be getting... is it right you have to pay £100 to do this? i have 2 claims.. does this mean another £200 to cough up? And what are you actually paying for with this £100? I thought paying out money was all over once you had paid the court fees! Don't know if I will be able to find another £200 Do you get it back like you get the court fee back?
thanks anyone that can answer! x

  • My total charges amounted to £1094.50 with no interest and this was the amount i requested back in a detailed letter stating date, amount and total of all charges over the last 6 years. Today i recieve a letter from HSBC saying

'thank you for your letter requesting a refund of £680.00' blahh blahh blahh......' Terms and conditions.....blah blah blah'..........
'HSBC are however prepared to payback £585.00 as a final settlement'.

Where do they pluck these figures from and what should i do next?

Of course the bank is hoping you will settle for a smaller figure. Some people do. Even if a small percentage settled for lower offers, the banks could save themselves a fortune.

It's your choice if you want to accept this offer, or carry on for the full amount. If you don't want to accept, write back and say something like............

I cannot accept your offer of £585 as full and final settlement of my claim. I would accept this only as a part payment and without prejudice, but I will continue my claim for the balance.

  • Well, its all done and delivered.

I delivered my little package to the bank this morning by hand. Asked one of the people working their to sign, print name and date a receipt for me so I have proof that it was delivered.

I was going to give the bank 14 days from Monday [15th Jan] because I delivered it today [Saturday]. Is this fair or do I go for it and count 14 days from today?

Feeling a bit excited AND apprehensive at the same time.
Proud to be dealing with my debts ONE day at a time
