Hi Guys,
I sent my letter off to request bank charges back on the 23rd May and I recieved a response to confirm they had recieved the request on the 25th May. 14 days later I didn't hear anything else so I sent a letter threatening court action - which I didn't recieve a response to at all. I've worked out that the 8 weeks will be up on the 20th July. What are the time scales at the moment and are people generally recieving offer letters before the 8 weeks or slightly afterwards?
Thanks...
Hi
My claim was logged on their system 14 May. I sent one letter with schedule of charges (not inc interest), I made a follow up call at the 7 week mark followed by a follow up email through the online banking service the same day and received an emailed offer the following day and the offer letter in the post 3 days later. You can email Leeds direct on servicequality@hsbc.com but I found I got a better response by going through 'my messages' in online banking. If you start court proceedings now you wont be able to deal direct with HSBC, they will pass it through to their solicitors and as you are already nearly at the 8 week period that could delay your claim even further. Personally I would say send an email through online banking on 13th (7 weeks) and see what happens. They are sorting most claims within the 8 week period from what I can see.
Hope this helps. If you have time read over the last week pages and you will see that quite a few of us have received offers before or on the 8 week mark.
Good luck with whichever route you decide to take.

Can anyone help me with this query please?
I am helping a friend with a claim against HSBC.
HSBC have responded to say that the claim refers to Bank charges and not to penalty charges.
The bulk of the charges my friend has listed appear on her Bank statement monthly about the 27th.
These may have been bank charges for clearing cheques and cash to and from the account.
My question is did HSBC charge personal accounts bank charges in 2004 & 2005?
Are these charges reclaimable?
Where can I get a copy of the charges HSBC made in these years?
Thank you
Lester
Thank you very much for your help.

can anyone help me with this please. I am currently pursuing a claim with hsbc for £4997.00. This week they made their first offer which was for about £3300.00. what do you think? i thought it was abit on the low side, I know its still a lot of money that I wouldn't of had before, but part of me thinks why should they get away with paying £1700 pounds less than i'm entitled to, it would be a lot of extra money for me and would make a real difference. i'm torn between accepting the offer (which i don't really want to, its just the safe option), trying to haggle them up to £4000 which i would accept( has anyone ever done this / does anyone think it would work?) or telling them to stick it and go to court which i would like to, if for nothing other than to notch up another win for the likes of you and I. my one and only reservation about court is i'm scared of ending up with nothing. i live close to birmingham where the banks scored a recent victory, and could end up in front of the same judge. any advice, opinions or experiences of similar circumstances would be greatly appreciated. i have 7 days to decide!!!0

Hi mate, is the £3300 your total charges without interest? A lot of the banks are offering the charges WITHOUT interest, the only way you get the interest is via the courts but it is a long & drawn out procedure. If the £3k+ is charges it is as you say atough one but given the length of time I have had to wait for the court date (still waiting) I would accept the charges without interest if I hadnt started the court procedures before they made me an offer.
Personally the choice is yours but honestly if the £3300 is what all your charges amount to Id consider taking it. You could always ring & see if they will budge a bit more...
Hope this helps
Just to add, as a few people see it on here, its £3300 you thought you would never see again...

Give them a gentle reminder to them by phone or email, it seems to spur them into action! My claim was for £1105 and I had an offer of £1024.25, not sure where that figure came from but I wasnt going to argue over 80 quid! I sent my acceptance back on Thursday via special delivery so they would have definitely got it on Friday. They say allow 14 days for your account to be credited but I've seen in previous posts that this can vary. I'm hoping that I'll have it by the end of this week!! :j0 -

The only way you would get the £1700 interest is via the courts mate, the FO only fix it so you get charges alone back.Official DFW Member 587 :T0 -
At last.... 7 months later...
Yesterday I got a full 100% + interest offer of nearly £3000 from DG solicitors (my preliminary hearing date was set last week for the Central london county court on the 17th July). They even offered interest up to the date of the letter boosting the initial claim by another £200.
Hang in there... hopefully there should be a lot of other happy people in London shortly...0 -
You aren't entitled to interest unless you file a court claim, and a judge would look unfavourably on a court claim that is just there to recoup the interest, so if the amount offered is the full amount claimed (without interest), then you have to accept it.Reclaimed thanks to this site:
