Hi, Thanks for your reply, it really helps. I am just wondering though, when you say from the first request letter going on their system, do you mean the letter asking for the statements (mine dated 12 march) or the letter requesting the actual charges (mine dated 1 May)? I have sent the second letter threatening court on 10th May and that gives 14 days to reply. Did you send that letter, and if so, how did you leave it then till 8 weeks was up when the last letter to them states they have to reply within 14 days? Also. how did you find out when the first letter went onto their system? Thanks for your help again. Debbie

    Hi!!

HSBC start their eight weeks from the date you send the letter asking for your charges back. I sent about three letters altogether but made telephone calls and emails in between. If you telephone the quality team at Leeds 08456028006 (and i would telephone about 4.30pm in the afternoon you don't seem to wait as long) the customer service person will inform you when your letter hit their system. You should also send all letters to the HSBC Bank PLC, Service Quality team, Arlington Business Centre, Millshaw, Park Lane, Leeds LS11 0PP, because if you go through you own branch it will take longer.

    Hope this helps

Do you have a copy of the Terms and Conditions?

I have trauled HSBC website and eventually found T+C`s .

There is 48 pages in total and if i can work out how to do it ( my wife can do it for me if i cant) then i will send it to whoever needs and wants a copy.

I will have to compress them if any1 does want them

I sent the HSBC a second letter with list of charges and interest and SHOCK HORROR they have sent a letter to my boss offering him £2200 within one week.

Thing is the amount asked for was £3400 plus interest so although I know my boss would be pleased to accept the offer does anyone think he should ask for more? And if so what would be acceptable?

    xx

No idea what happened. The letter ( he read it to me on the phone tonight all excited) says something about they didnt want to enter into a legal battle and a form for him to sign saying he wouldnt claim further and all information had to be confidential.

No he isnt a solicitor, its a garage.

Total time from asking for statements to offer is about 4/5 weeks.

    Hi there

Sent my first letter 31st March but heard nothing. Rang their customer services but they claim not to have received my letter and said that the 40 days would start from my first phone call on 12th May. Not happy with this so over the last couple of nights, I have retrieved the information myself from the 'My Statements' section of their Internet Banking website. Quite a laborious process but just about to go to post office to send recorded delivery to their Service Quality Team in Leeds, as another poster said this was the best route. NB - to see the 'My Statements' option, you have to be looking at your actual statement on-line; not the summary page. This is where I made a mistake and it took me ages to find!

    Good luck.

    hi all

I just phoned the court to ask for a timetable of when my "judgement by default " might be heard and i was informed that HSBC had defended the claim on the 24 th may so my default will not be heard

I was told by the court that before weds 30th that no defence had been entered so i am now seriously P&^%$ed off

I am thinking of phoning the solicitors and seeing if we can cut a deal that is how fed up i am
    steve

Well surprise surprise...letter from court today, HSBC have filed a defense, pretty standard same as rest on here, and i now have an AQ to fill in and return by the 18th June..i seem to be a few days behind you...will watch and wait!!
