Hi, I wonder can anyone help me.

I bank with HSBC and I am in the process of reclaiming my charges but I am really unsure which charges I can claim back, and if the charges I have asked to have back are actually ones I am able to reclaim.

    Can I claim back the

    DR Notified charges,
    and the DR charges?

I am at the point of issuing the court letter but I am afraid that I may be making a mistake with what I am claiming? I just want to be sure I am asking for what I am entitled to.

Practically everyone in the HSBC thread will have received the same letter, hang on and I'll shift your post there where you can read of other user's experience with HSBC.
  • hi there.

we had the same letter from hsbc and responded giving them 14 days to answer. gues what after 28 days we still had no response from them, so we have instigated court proceedings. The following day in the post we got a letter saying they would not pay us any interest and that we were claiming more than we were allowed. This is not correct.
well the upshot is its now up to the court to decide, will post how it goes

I should mention that I personally took the garages letters to the branch that they use and the letter seems to have come back from there, so maybe thats why things moved a lot quicker.

I have today downloaded my 6 years worth of statements from HSBC.

I am now at the stage of drafting a letter to claim for my bank charges back.

I have worked out from my 6 years worth of bank statements that I have been charged £790.50 in unlawful charges.

Now, whenever the bank have levied these charges on my account I have 50% of the time gone into the bank and pleaded poverty and have had some of the charges refunded.

I have totalled my refunded charges up in the same 6 year period and these come to £360.

So that leaves me with £430.50 of charges which have never been refunded.

Should I try and claim for the full £790.50 of charges in the hope that HSBC do not realise and they have refunded me £360 of charges ????

Also, could you tell me where to send this 1st claim letter ??

I spoke to a HSBC phone operative yesterday and they advised me to send the correspondance to Service Quality Team in Leeds :

    HSBC Bank PLC
    Service Quality Team
    Arlington Business Centre
    Millshaw Park Lane
    Leeds
    LS11 0PP

    OR

should i send to the branch i opened the account at ?????

    Thanks in advance

Thats interesting, i thought they had to go to their leeds head office, i may try dropping letter into my local branch and also one to their head office, i just want to try and get this sorted as soon as possible, they have charged me £125.oo again this month, i know its my fault for going over drawn but the money they are taking is my money to pay rent and bills etc, (no luxuries) theirs no way at present i can keep my account within limit with them taking upto £150.00 a month without falling behind with rent. If these charges were less i would be within my limit 99% of the time. any ideas from all you HSBC customers? Anyone else out there found it quicker through branch offices ?
Its been the longest three months..... success is nearly insight:T ....... Money in account

Hi Lou. I am in the same boat as you! It is my own fault that I go over my overdraft but the charges they charge really put me in the ****!! If they were lower I would be able to manage but they aren't!!! What are we to do??
