Hi
Just registered with this site today and thought id let you know that i made a claim for my bank charges with HSBC in August 2005 for £756, i received my refund in Sept 2005. Not sure if i was lucky in the right person picked up my letters but please keep going as like me you should beat the bank and get back what should never have been taken from you, usually at the time when you need it most.
Jo
Best of luck!0 -
Hi, I wonder if anyone could clarify this for me. I sent the LBA off today to HSBC using Martin's template. The template states that I will start court action if I don't hear back within 7 days. I thought it was 14?
Many thanks in advance for all help

Your particulars of claim looks OK. The address you need for the court claim is in THIS THREAD (post number 3)How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi guys,
I have read through some of the posts but there isn't enough hours in the day to go through all of them.
I saw Martin on GMTV months ago talking about claiming back unfair bank charges.
I bank with HSBC and have done since i was knee high. After finishing uni (6 yrs ago) I have always been in my overdraft, so when I heard this I thought "Yahoooo". I printed out the letter and sent it off. Last week I had a letter back from them saying that they would send me the info requested and also enclosed my cheque! This morning there was a hell of noise downstairs as the postman posted 20 odd letters through the post, my bank statements for the past few years. When I sit down and go through them all what am I looking for? What is the difference between intrest charged for being overdrawn and unfair bank charges?
Anybody had a similar experience with HSBC?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hi im new to the chat room. I sent my first letter to HSBC on Saturday 9th Dec asking them to refund my bank charges (i worked these out from my online statements), but i did not send it recorded/ signed for delivery, do you think i should send another or will it be ok?
I set up a new bank account with Nationwide, should i also set up my direct debits and start having my money coming out of that account or should i set them up if my HSBC account is closed?
These questions have probably been answered somewehere in the forum but i would appreciate any help or advice.
Many thanks Xtina0 -
HSBC may or may not close your account after you've reclaimed your charges. If they do, they will give you 30 days notice, so leave your DDs until you need to move them (you may not need your new account at all).
Wait until the deadline for this letter is up, then send the next letter of the process. Recorded/registered delivery is better because you can prove they received your mail..How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?
