I cant afford Grapes, Bacon, Cheese and Eggs
Comments

Eggs - shop around. Markets are usually cheaper and better quality.
Grapes - overpriced and often not very good. Give them a miss.
Cheese - can be expensive these days, but shop around, some very good offers can be had. Look also for reduced cheese nearing it's sell-by date. I rarely pay full price.
Bacon - if it's cheap it's not fit for a dog. Don't bother with it. Meat is a luxury item anyway."Never underestimate the mindless force of a government bureaucracyseeking to expand its power, dominion and budget"Jay Stanley, American Civil Liberties Union.0 -
Lovely smoked (or unsmoked) back bacon in Farmfoods for £1 at the moment. 6 decent rashers. Lidl bacon is good too. I always stock up and freeze it when on offer.0

fresian_cow wrote: »Grapes can def be pricey I agree with that. I realise I will prob be shot down for this but we pay about £1.60 for 15 value eggs which is only about 10p an egg. Cheese we have started to buy from the cheese counter in tesco as opposed to cathedral city etc and have got some real bargains recently, mature chedder for 35p for 100g etc. Bacon I dont buy often but it's only ever £2 a pack ish if you don't get it on offer which isn't too much and streaky bacon is cheaper!
mrrisons have been having a free standing 'boxy' thing of egggs the othe week 9 free range for £1.50 and then last week and then last week 15 for £2.50...
not great but not too bad...
you have to think that my 9 eggs will do 3 omelettes just add a but of cheese and some peppers and onions chuck in some herbs - so less than £1 for a whole meal.

I agree with 'Sparkleylime' bacon is best bought from a butchers, as i find it alot better quality(thicker slices etc) and cheaper £2.99 for 2lb, my butcher will even vacuum pack it for me. I don't buy eggs as my MIL gets 2 dozen each week from a local farm, and she always gives some to us
Grapes i only buy when they are on offer.0 -
Can't remember the last time I paid the 'correct' price for cheese - my local Sainsburys is always having reductions. Also, if you only want cheese for cooking or making sauces, then Sainsbury's basic grated is pretty cheap and pretty good.0
