    Rubbish!

    A pointless tautology.

If I can transfer money to any UK account in one day there is no reason why an outfit the size of Tesco cannot do the same.

Stop making stupid statements when you clearly have no idea what you are talking about.

Payments from debit cards for shopping etc are not instant bank transfers and due to the refunds being processed the same way as payments funnily enough the same delays can happen. If they start doing occasional bank transfers it leaves more problems with accounting for payments etc and with the amount of transactions taking place with companies like Tesco its better to keep it as simple as possible.

Not entirely sure why you say I don't know what I'm on about as your talking about transfers and that is not how debit payments/refunds happen. ;)

I said you don't know what you're talking about because you are limiting yourself to the debit card system and this is not the only way to rectify the situation.

Tesco have had this persons money for some time now and need to think outside the box (at least, the box into which you are limiting your thinking). They could, for example, either do a direct transfer to the victim's bank account or authorise physical repayment at a local store.

    It's not rocket science.

There is no way to expedite the payment system for a company as large as Tesco or any company. Payments take as long as they take. Same as if you use your debit card and payment may show a couple of days after you used it on your statement. When you pay them payment isn't instant so a refund wont be instant either.

You've been polite, intelligent and reasonable and I applaud this. Trouble is when people feel aggrieved they don't value nice, reasonable people, but see them as rude people who don't "get it."

3 to 5 working days from 30 Jan is 6 Feb. Why didn't you call them before the 11th Feb ? If it was me, i would have been on the phone on the 6th if the money wasn't back in my account. Fair enough they made a mistake but you've added another 4 days to the problem.

Nearly every Tesco online shopping delivery i've had has come early. I wouldn't risk leaving it until 10 minutes before to get home.

    Yup.

The only trouble is that he was wrong. ;)

    That's absolutely ridiculous!

What on earth is the point of having a delivery slot if they are going to deliver outside it?

If they can't be accurate to within a two hour slot they should make the slots three hours wide to accommodate variations. (i.e the customer sees a three hour slot but the delivery drivers sees a two hour slot with a half hour leeway either side for contingencies.)
